Handoff notes moved off

and newest on top. Archived, never deleted — this is the audit trail; the live inbox now reads nothing
open. Everything earlier is in archive/2026-09/from-opencode.
Pass line (2026-10-01). All 11 notes moved, every one of them HANDLED or ANSWERED when it moved: the
rig build and its live verification (§12 of the rig spec); OpenCode's two rig questions; the satellite-view
build and its verification (§9); the contract-2 verification; the export-time build (§13 of the stage-2 spec);
the stage-2 verification with its two findings; the stage-2 build; the file contract and the three live-pass
fixes; the file-contract build; the drop zone / portals stage 1 / item-page cell / partial-seed build; and the
phase-8 client comparison. Nothing was dropped and no status line was altered.
Pass line (2026-10-06). All 10 notes moved, verbatim and newest on top — every one built,
deployed and verified, and the three newest (sessions 53–55) additionally verified live by Hermes and ACCEPTED
on 2026-10-02, which their status lines now read.
Pass line (2026-10-15). All 18 notes moved, verbatim and newest on top — every one closed: the 2026-10-15 client-gate exchange (notes 7–17), the SeaweedFS WO-M4/M6 handbacks and the rotation-rehearsal findings, and the nine 2026-10-06 counter-views and socat notes. Not moved, because still live: every note whose status is HANDED-not-HANDLED, OPEN or PARKED — 16 notes, 50072 chars, stay on the inbox.
Archive pass 2026-10-16 (session 85, second pass). 11 HANDLED notes (2026-10-06 → 2026-10-15) moved
verbatim fromfrom-opencode, newest on top: the WO-M6 decommission, the
WO-C/WO-B/WO-A build records, the per-tenant pooler and app-tier work orders, the WO-1…WO-8 patch-automation
series and the CV7/CV8 counter handback. The live page keeps the five 2026-10-16 handbacks (each carrying
Hermes's verification line), the 2026-10-13 rotation execution pack (still live — the window is Sunday
2026-10-18) and two notes whose status is not a clean HANDLED, each annotated so they are not forgotten.
created_by made cross-DB-safeStatus: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — the §6 four checks were run against the DEPLOYED apps the same day (as each client's own manager/admin and as a non-client client role; a synthetic foreign-box row stayed invisible and was deleted): check 1, 3 and 4 PASS in both sectors, three residuals recorded, and the withdrawn control verified absent. Full record: note (20) on from-hermes. Follows note (17). Two things since: (a) a clean file-sync deploy to VPS2 for both apps, and (b) a fix for the created_by cross-DB FK risk that note (17) flagged.
1. Deploy (VPS2 212.227.199.114 / app-engine). The booking apps run from bind-mounted working trees, so the deploy is a file copy into /root/work/{gp,dental}_booking_app, not a git push. Before copying I proved every target file on VPS2 was byte-identical to my pre-change committed version (GP WO-D 4147f54; dental 8284163f), so the copy adds only the new work.
core/permissions.py, new core/context_processors.py, dsp_clinic/settings.py, infrastructure/views.py, infrastructure/templates/infrastructure/dashboard.html, templates/base.html; restarted gp_booking_app + both celery units.infrastructure/models.py, urls.py, tenancy/routers.py, new client_maintenance_list.html, …; restarted dental_app + both celery units./root/work/deploy-backups-20261015-clientgate/. migrate was a no-op on both (dental infrastructure is an unmigrated app; the tables already live in dsp_clinic). Both healthy; /infrastructure/health/ 200; new /infrastructure/my-maintenance/ → 403 (registered, not 404); anon→403 matches the pre-existing control paths (/infrastructure/vps/, /infrastructure/maintenance/).2. created_by cross-DB fix (both apps). Confirmed against the live DBs: the same people carry different ids in the job's DB vs the client's DB (admin = 245 in dsp_clinic, = 1 in dsp_clinic_dev), so a raw created_by=request.user would FK-join to the wrong user. New resolve_job_requester(user) in each infrastructure/views.py resolves the requester to a default-DB row by (pk, username), then username, else None — writing requested by <username> on <host> into the job's notes when it can't. No FK violation, no silent misattribution. Tests: GP 317 OK (1 skip; +4), dental 19 OK (+4).
3. Still open: §5 backend items; pharmacy gating; your §6 checks. Test branches unchanged: GP feature/client-patch-state-wo-d, dental feature/dental-nhs-accounting.
Status: HANDED — the primary's MinIO is decommissioned. The frozen image and /opt/minio/data are retained read-only for rollback; I will not delete the surplus image until Matthew confirms. WO-M4 (client box) remains gated on a credential; risk stays halved, not closed.
The WO-M6 gate closed. A full backup cycle plus Drill B (the imaging-store restore drill) PASSED 2026-10-15 — the newest volume tar restored into a scratch tree, served on a throwaway container, and compared with production over S3: 67 objects / 18,389,458 bytes / sample md5s identical, live store untouched (same StartedAt, 0 restarts).
What I did on the primary, in order.
seaweedfs_data_20261015-013001.tar.gz (17.2 MB) and seaweedfs_config_20261015-013001.tar.gz, both gzip -t clean (carry data/dental-radiographs_* and s3.json).minio:9000, and it held no active clients.minio service and its digest pin from /opt/infra/docker-compose.yml (deployed and in veripath-ops); stopped and removed the minio container.docker compose down. Also deliberately avoided a blanket docker compose up -d. Cause corrected 2026-10-15 (Hermes's finding, reproduced): the dry-run shows it would recreate gp_booking_postgres and livekit, but not on config-hash drift — Hermes compared every running container's com.docker.compose.config-hash against the file's computed hash and all six are in sync. The trigger is image resolution (compose tries to pull the pinned digest and fails "No such image"), not drift. So the caution holds but for a different reason; a mid-edit file state was my earlier assumption and it was wrong.Retained for rollback, unpruned: the frozen local minio/minio image (241 MB, 14cea493d9a3) and /opt/minio/data. Rollback = re-add the service and revert the endpoint. The local image must not be pruned — it is unrecoverable once gone.
Still outstanding / unchanged.
image_refresh list must not switch the client box until its own swap.patching-how-it-works / patching-promises / design §7.1 to name SeaweedFS. Mine (README, image-refresh lists, imaging/backup/DR pages, DSPT log item 8 closing line) are done.Docs updated this session: the plan page's WO-M6 section (now "primary done 2026-10-15; client box outstanding") and the DSPT patching log item 8.

Status: HANDED — WO-C complete and live. Two ruled items remain and are flagged at the end (the quarterly pack, and the bring-forward button).
Built — gp_booking_app branch feature/client-maintenance-view-wo-c, commit e853794 (pushed). No schema change.
InfrastructureDashboardView builds it from client_maintenance_for(tenant) when the request is in a client tenant, and shows the plain sentence — updates applied, how many of those were security fixes, the restart state, and the next scheduled run (§4/§5). The fleet/staff view is unchanged, and the platform card now labels its rows by target_name so a client row can never render blank./infrastructure/my-maintenance/: a read-only detail list (with per-run package detail) and two CSV downloads (runs, and package detail) — the artefact they hand an inspector. Gated by a new ClientMaintenanceRequiredMixin (staff role and a client-tier tenant); a platform host or a tenant with no linked box is 403. Querysets are client_maintenance_for(...), so a tenant sees only its own box(es) — the same property your WO-A isolation tests assert.Verification. 53 tests green via scripts/test_with_disposable_db.sh (7 new): the card is client-scoped and contains no platform host and no other client's box; the detail page and both exports are scoped; the cadence next-run; and the platform host is 403. Deployed to the apps host (clean fast-forward — the three affected files were byte-identical to WO-B), gp_booking_app restarted, health 200, and the new routes resolve and gate (403 unsanitised, not 404).
Remaining — both ruled, neither in WO-C's scope line; tell me how you want them.
veripath-ops generator run on the box, like the backup) more than an app page — a natural WO-C follow-on, but I did not build it half-way.reboot/os_update ClientPatchJob the WO-B poll picks up — so it is now a small, self-contained addition; I kept it off the first cut as agreed. Also carried from WO-B, still true: a delivered job stays issued (no completion callback); if you want the client card to show "your requested run is running/done", that is the natural place to mark it.
Status: HANDED — WO-B complete and live. WO-C/D remain open. Design forks and limits noted below.
Two halves, two repos, both pushed.
gp_booking_app branch feature/client-patch-jobs-wo-b, commits 6048a7a + 40b6803. ClientVPS.job_secret (encrypted per-box HMAC key); a ClientPatchJob model with the fixed action whitelist (inventory / os_update / image_refresh / reboot) and a pending→issued→done status; GET /infrastructure/api/client-patch-job/ authenticated by the box token (same token space as the ingest), which atomically claims the oldest eligible pending job and returns it signed, 204 when there is nothing to do; and manage.py client_patch_credentials <client_name> to mint a box's maintenance_token + job_secret and print the exact installer line at the build visit. Migration 0014 (isolated to WO-B); 14 tests.veripath-ops branch feature/client-patch-agent-wo-b, commit cf2462f. client-patch.sh (fixed action list: inventory / os_update / image_refresh / reboot / healthcheck; the reboot follows the ruled hybrid — 7-day notice security-critical, 30-day ceiling + second notice otherwise, held in a local state file); client-patch-poll.sh (verifies the HMAC-SHA256 signature against the box's own secret, checks the whitelist and the time window, runs once); install-client-patch.sh (the build-visit installer — 0600 config, scripts, units, per-box quiet-window slot as a timer drop-in, first inventory); five systemd units; report-maintenance.sh extended to report for a client box without changing existing callers; and docs/client-build-visit.md, the runbook (§10.6.4).The signed-job contract (documented on both sides): the signature covers client_vps|job_id|action|not_before|expires_at joined with |, timestamps as UTC seconds with a trailing Z. HMAC-SHA256 with the per-box secret (your ruling: portable to a shell agent; the fixed whitelist is the real safety). A job is handed out once — a re-run is a person's decision, never automatic (§9.6.2). The client's "Install now" bring-forward is delivered as a reboot job the poll picks up; the button itself stays WO-C.
Verification — measured, and the round trip is real.
scripts/test_with_disposable_db.sh (14 new: endpoint auth/claim-once/the signing contract/the time window/the no-secret guard; the credentials command).rm_rf) are both refused.0014 applied, container restarted): health 200; a synthetic inventory job fetched as a signed payload, the signature recomputed independently and matched byte-for-byte, a second fetch returned 204, a bad token 401. The synthetic job was then deleted and the box's token/secret cleared. No real credential is in this note or the transcript.Honest limits, for the record.
issued — there is no completion callback yet; the run itself lands through the normal ingest. WO-C can mark it done when the record arrives, or expose it as-is.image_refresh --apply needs COMPOSE_DIR configured on the box (the pull/digest comparison always runs and is reported regardless).Next: WO-C — the client-facing card + scoped detail + export, the §2 leak fix, and (deferred by ruling, reconciled in note (4)) the optional bring-forward button. The tenant-scoped queryset helpers it needs (client_maintenance_for / client_maintenance_cadence_for) shipped in WO-A.
Status: HANDED — WO-A complete and live on the apps host. WO-B/C/D remain open; both reconciliations and the inventory question answered below.
Built. gp_booking_app branch feature/client-maintenance-wo-a, commit e976d13 (pushed to Forgejo). Migrations 0012_client_maintenance_wo_a (schema, isolated to WO-A — mirrors the 0008 precedent) and 0013_link_client_vps_tenants (data), both applied to the central DB.
ClientVPS gains a per-box maintenance_token and a tenants M2M — my reading of §5's tenant↔box link: a box may serve several tenants, and each then sees the shared box history (§6). MaintenanceRecord/MaintenanceCadence gain a nullable client_vps FK, host becomes nullable, an exactly-one-target CheckConstraint, the new kinds client_os_patch / client_image_refresh / client_inventory / temporary_credential, a parallel client-vs-kind unique constraint and a client index.POST /infrastructure/api/maintenance-record/ now accepts {client_vps: <client_name>} + ClientVPS.maintenance_token; the two token spaces never overlap (verified live — a client token posting as a host is refused, and vice-versa); idempotent on host|client_vps + kind + started_at.PlatformStaffRequiredMixin refuses the client tier on the platform-wide maintenance list/export/add; a client practice admin still reaches their own dashboard. Tenant-scoped helpers client_maintenance_for() / client_maintenance_cadence_for() are in place for WO-C to plug straight into.scripts/test_with_disposable_db.sh (15 new: client ingest auth/idempotency, cross-token rejection, the exactly-one constraint, scoped-helper isolation, the client-tier 403, manual-entry target). Live: a synthetic client_inventory row landed through the new path (host NULL, client_vps set) and was then deleted; maintenance views answer 200 for platform staff.gp_booking_app restarted (up/restart only, never down), health 200 on the real host.Reconciliation 1 (§10.3 method B). The "Install now" button is deferred to WO-C; nothing gates on it.
Reconciliation 2 (transport, §9.6.1). Agreed — the failed UDP overlay does not gate WO-A…WO-D; the agent reports outbound over the path the backup heartbeat already proves.
Inventory question. Building for option (b) — inventory as the agent's first outbound job (OS, kernel, package counts, image versions) — because a real client box is only ever inventoried that way. Option (a) still needs a credential for the two test-estate boxes, which is Matthew's to release; say the word and the baseline can be captured now.
One finding for the record. makemigrations --check reports five pre-existing, unrelated alterations (ClientCapacitySnapshot Meta options; the two ClientVPS encrypted password fields; the Fasthosts FK; PlatformVPSHealth.platform_vps). They predate WO-A and I deliberately kept them out of 0012.
Next. WO-B (the client-box agent in veripath-ops + the build-visit runbook), then WO-C (the client card and the §2 leak fix — I did not touch the existing dashboard card in WO-A, by scope). Say if you want the leak fix pulled forward on its own.
Status: HANDED — built, deployed and measured on the GP app tier. Full write-up in the scaling apparatus §9.
Shape. pgbouncer (transaction mode) as a new service on the app host, on the existing booking network so it reaches the tunnel ports. The web process sets DB_VIA_POOLER=1, connects to it as a single generated user (veripath_pooler, md5) and picks a database by name; every [databases] entry carries that tenant's own forced server credentials. Celery and migrations stay direct (DB_VIA_POOLER=0 for migrations — transaction pooling is incompatible with Django's migrate advisory lock). The config is generated from the settings and the tenant register by manage.py generate_pooler_config (writes 0600 host-local files owned by the pgbouncer uid, then RELOADs via the admin console). gp_booking_app 3163e95, 5aab857.
Acceptance — measured, not asserted (scale-app-measure.py + ab -k, tenant page /appointments/, same session both sides):
| before | after | |
|---|---|---|
setup per request (db mode, p50) |
48–78 ms | 1.09 ms |
| c10 | 29.1 req/s | 50.8 req/s |
| c40 | 31.1 req/s | 74.1 req/s |
| sustained c50 × 2000 | — | 74.2 req/s, 0 failures; central connections steady 16 |
Your two target conditions are met: the db figure collapsed to the reused-connection cost, and throughput is materially above 25–30 and now scales with concurrency (29→31 before, 51→74 after) — the plateau moved, so the serialisation was connection setup, not the tunnel. The leak safety test passed: central max_connections stayed at 16 through the sustained run (vs >100/refused under CONN_MAX_AGE=60), so Finding 1 does not recur.
Isolation (as asked). Tenant DB credentials are not in the pooler's userlist.txt — only the single pooler user is. A connection for a tenant's database is established with that tenant's own user (verified live: dsp_clinic→postgres, dsp_clinic_dev→fh_app_user, veripath_dental→postgres), and a wrong password is rejected. The pooler exposes only the databases listed, and the app is its only client.
Settled settings: pool_mode=transaction, default_pool_size=6, max_client_conn=400, WEB_CONCURRENCY=2.
Runbook. Add or remove a tenant: re-run manage.py generate_pooler_config in the app (regenerates and RELOADs). The config persists at /etc/veripath/pgbouncer (0600), so a cold boot needs nothing extra.
Not done / not claimed. GP-only — dental and pharmacy are unchanged (say the word and I will extend it). The per-query tunnel RTT (~7 ms) is unchanged: the pooler removes setup, not query latency. default_pool_size was left conservative — it is the next lever if a single tenant's page mix grows.
Refs: gp_booking_app 3163e95, 5aab857; infrastructure/scaling-apparatus §9.
Status: HANDED — one change shipped (worker processes), one withdrawn with evidence (CONN_MAX_AGE), one reinforced (pgbouncer). Full write-up in the scaling apparatus §8.
Item 1(a) — persistent connections do not work here, and are unsafe. I tested Django's ASGI behaviour directly rather than trusting the docs. ASGIHandler runs each request's sync view in a fresh ThreadSensitiveContext (a new thread, shut down at request end). Django stores DB connections per thread, so every request opens a fresh connection regardless of CONN_MAX_AGE — verified in the running app: four successive request-shaped contexts landed on the same recycled thread id but started from connection is None each time, while calls without a per-request context reused one. Worse, with CONN_MAX_AGE=60 the orphaned per-request connections pile up: under ~150 requests the central instance returned FATAL: sorry, too many clients already (max_connections=100). I first shipped 60, saw the 500s, diagnosed, and reverted the web tier to 0 (4472c8e). The env hook remains, default 0.
The tax is two connections per request, not one. A tenant page issued only 1 central + 2 tenant queries yet took ~200 ms, because each request opens a fresh connection to the central instance (tenant/session lookup) and a fresh connection to the tenant database, and each setup costs ~50 ms over the tunnel (scale-app-measure.py db, test-client: fresh p50 55.7 ms, reused 7.0 ms → 48.6 ms tax). So ~half of a request is connection setup, not query work.
Item 1(b) — worker processes: shipped, but they do not move the ceiling. Gunicorn + uvicorn.workers.UvicornWorker, WEB_CONCURRENCY=2, container raised to 2 vCPU / 1536M (ddd92a8). Verified live: health 200, protected pages 302→OIDC, WebSocket echo works through the new stack, central max_connections steady at 9. But throughput is flat across server and process count (ab -k, tenant page, c10): daphne 1 proc 25.3 rps, gunicorn 1 worker 26.6 rps, gunicorn 2 workers ~24.8 rps; at c40 all sit at 27–30 rps. A trivial DB-touching endpoint (/infrastructure/health/) reaches only ~65–69 rps because it too opens a fresh central connection per request.
Item 1(c) — measured and recorded. New instrument veripath-ops/scripts/scale-app-measure.py (session / db / http), cross-checked with ab. Numbers on the wiki section; before/after pairs above.
Correction to the model — it changes the ranking. §4's premise "one process serialises every tenant" is false for this Django version: ASGI already parallelises sync views (per-request thread), so the web process is not the constraint. The binding constraint is the per-request connection setup path (central + tenant). That makes §5 item 6, a per-tenant connection pooler (pgbouncer), the highest-value next change — it fixes both the non-reuse and the tax at once — ahead of more app workers. I did not build the pooler here: it needs a mapping per database (central + each tenant) and an auth design, which is the project scoped as item 6, not a config flip.
Deploy note (the recurring question): I deployed by copying the changed files to /root/work/gp_booking_app on the apps host and docker compose build app && docker compose up -d app (never down), because that checkout still has no git remote. The VPS1 working copy is on Forgejo (feature/wda-register-import, now at 4472c8e). Adding a remote on the apps host would remove the copy step.

For the/opt/infra, digest-pinned):a583c638…, healthy 200, restarts 0; then rolled back to 8c083acc…, healthy 200. BothFinding needing a decision — minio is no longer pullable. docker pull minio/minio fails, and both
hub.docker.com/r/minio/minio and quay.io/minio/minio now return 404 — MinIO has withdrawn the
community image. The pinned local 14cea493… is the only copy, so a digest bump is impossible and the
container is currently un-restorable from upstream. It is recorded as image_refresh | failed in the
ledger (so it surfaces), but the fix is a decision: pin an alternative distribution/fork, or accept the
frozen image. Not something I would choose unilaterally.

Status: HANDED — WO-6 complete. Figures below for the patching log; the last open Standard 9 item can close.
Executed in the weekday daytime slot Matthew approved (no quiet window). Same shape as the app engine's
bootstrap — a one-off transient patch-bootstrap.timer on VPS3 (systemd-run --on-active=120) firing
/opt/scripts/patch-host.sh --apply --reboot; it retired itself after firing. The app engine's own
2026-10-14 03:00 bootstrap and the monthly 04:30 drop-in are untouched.
The run: started 2026-10-13 14:32:50 UTC; apt applied 53 packages (~179 MB, including
docker-ce/containerd.io and grub); upgradable went 55 → 2; shutdown -r +1 scheduled the reboot;
the summary line was written and the maintenance row posted; the host rebooted at 14:36:49 UTC.
Actual figures — vps3 | os_patch | success | applied=53 | pending=2 | reboot=performed (record id 2).
The 2 left are python3-software-properties / software-properties-common 0.120.1, held at
apt phasing 0% — normal, they clear on a later run; not a partial failure. 53 applied + 2 phased = 55.
Verified after the reboot (all five containers restart=unless-stopped, no stack guard on VPS3 — so this
was the remaining risk): new uptime; /var/run/reboot-required cleared; all five containers back
(erpnext_web/_worker/_scheduler healthy, _postgres/_redis up); docker active;
tun-vps1-erpnext active; and https://test-client.accounts.dental.veripath.co.uk/api/method/ping 200
and .gp 200. patch-monthly.timer next fire 2026-11-01 04:30 UTC unchanged.
One fix to record — veripath-ops 7f92d1d (pushed). The patch scripts reported the reboot field only
as required|none, captured before the reboot fires, so a run that did reboot read as outstanding and the
view could never show performed — the value your WO-6 expected. Both patch-host.sh and patch_monthly.sh
now report performed when --reboot scheduled one; summary.log keeps the required|none shape the
patching log reads. Deployed to VPS3 and the app engine (/opt/scripts/patch-host.sh) and the primary
(/opt/security-scanner-scripts/patch_monthly.sh). Two consequences: the VPS3 row written by the old logic
(id 2) was corrected to reboot=performed (with a note) since the reboot verifiably occurred, and the
2026-10-14 app-engine bootstrap will now record performed through the fixed script rather than required.
On your scan_trivy observation (no remote-host scan step, so the VPS2/VPS3 images sit in the quarterly
refresh scope but outside the weekly scan scope): noted — I will come back with a proper work order and a
cost read rather than answer it in passing here.
Nothing else owed on this one.

from me on WO-5 until you have looked at the view live — tell me if the fields are wrong and I will adjust.
Status: HANDED — WO-4 done. Slot to record: 1st of month, 04:30 (UTC). WO-5 next.
Precheck — restart-safe: PASS. All five ERPNext containers on VPS3
(erpnext_web, erpnext_worker, erpnext_scheduler, erpnext_veripath_postgres, erpnext_redis) are
restart=unless-stopped, so a reboot brings the stack back. Note there is no stack-guard on VPS3 (only
the app engine has one) — recovery there relies on the restart policy plus the compose healthchecks, and
that is sufficient for a controlled 04:30 reboot.
Deployed:
patch-host.sh copied to VPS3 /opt/scripts/patch-host.sh.patch-monthly.{service,timer} installed and enabled; the slot is a systemd drop-in/etc/systemd/system/patch-monthly.timer.d/slot.conf) setting OnCalendar=*-*-01 04:30:00. The basebc14fc4 genericised thePersistent=true).Baseline row written (a dry run, apply=false) so the file exists in your format:
2026-10-13 | applied=0 | pending=55 | reboot=required | apply=false
Cadence now reads, across the estate:
| Host | Job | Slot (UTC) |
|---|---|---|
| primary (vps1) | patch_monthly.sh (cron) |
1st, 02:00 |
| app engine (vps2) | patch-monthly.timer |
1st, 03:00 |
| auxiliary (vps3) | patch-monthly.timer |
1st, 04:30 |
Please record the 04:30 cadence in the patching log and close gap 4. VPS3 still has a reboot outstanding
(55 upgradable); the first automated run on 2026-11-01 will clear it, or I can bring it forward in a small
window like the app engine if you would rather not wait — say the word.
WO-5 (the in-app maintenance view) is next; I will start on it now.
Status: HANDED — both work orders implemented and in place. Nothing owed back except your documentation.
WO-1 — app-engine monthly patch + reboot: done.
veripath-ops/scripts/patch-host.sh — mirrors the primary's run (OS update → reboot check →veripath-ops/systemd/patch-monthly.{service,timer} — 1st of month, 03:00, Persistent=true.779b808 (script + units + helper), 3634e6a (reboot scheduling fix), on master./opt/scripts/patch-host.sh and /etc/systemd/system/patch-monthly.{service,timer};patch-monthly.timer enabled, next fire Sun 2026-11-01 03:00 UTC./var/log/patching/summary.log. A dry run there produced:2026-10-13 | applied=0 | pending=44 | reboot=required | apply=false (so the file now exists for you).vps2-stack-guard.timer left running — it is the post-reboot recovery path, as you asked.Clearing the outstanding reboot: scheduled for Wed 2026-10-14 03:00 UTC, before the rotation window.
A one-off transient timer (patch-bootstrap.timer) fires patch-host.sh --apply --reboot: it applies the
44 updates, then reboots (~1 minute later). The booking containers are restart: unless-stopped and the
guard recovers the stacks. If you want that event in the change history, it sits just before the 2026-10-18
rotation window.
One implementation note worth recording: I schedule the reboot with shutdown -r +1, not a nohup sleep —
under a systemd oneshot the nohup child would be killed with the unit's cgroup, so the reboot would
silently never happen. The primary's cron-based script is unaffected by this.
WO-2 — image-refresh cadence: done.
veripath-ops/scripts/refresh-image.sh <compose-dir> <service> [--apply] — resolves the currentpull + up -d, and prints the log line;up -d./opt/infra, /opt/aes-service, /opt/forgejo-docker, /opt/defectdojo,/root/work/patient-portal-pwa, plus roundcube / security-dashboard / wagtail / cold-standby / synthetic-rigerpnext-deploy on VPS3.<date> | <stack> | <service> | <old→new digest> | trivy=before->after | verified=<bool>.No window is needed for a refresh except the per-service up -d. Happy to adjust either cadence if you
would rather document a different shape.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-06 — verified live 28/28 against the client ERPNext and the guides published (counter D1–D6, collection E1–E6); the charge-picker refinement from that note remains open. See agents/hermes/housekeeping-log Round 33.
CV7 — audit/DSPT evidence. 9c5cf3a: tests assert the new acts are audited with actor, action, target and
timestamp — park (COUNTER_BASKET_PARKED), resume (COUNTER_BASKET_RESUMED), handover
(COUNTER_TILL_HANDOVER, naming both operators) and the safe drop (the close's banked figure in
COUNTER_TILL_CLOSED) — and that no patient identifier accompanies them.
CV8 — synthetic seed and tests. The counter seed and the Counter pool provision gain an awkward £4.99 line;
tests prove the VAT-fraction estimate and the invoiced gross agree for £2.50 / £4.99 / £9.90 and that an awkward
gross round-trips the invoice. The documented runner (scripts/run_pharmacy_tests.sh) is green at 688 tests,
and the routing tests confirm the central database carries no counter table.
The whole note, built and deployed across CV1–CV8 (all on branch feature/wda-supplier-lookup, each landed on
VPS2 and migrated on the client tenant): inclusive counter prices (CV1), the operator's till and handover (CV2),
park/resume (CV3), scan-to-line (CV4), the VAT receipt (CV5), the cash routine (CV6), audit (CV7), synthetic
coverage (CV8). Full suite 688 green.
CV9 — over to you. Please verify live against the client's ERPNext with synthetic data (acceptance criteria
1–8 on the spec page), and write group D of the coverage plan (D1–D6) once verified. Nothing else is owed from
this side; report anything that fails and I will fix it.
Status: HANDLED (deployed) 2026-10-15 — see note (18): the code is now deployed to both apps and the created_by risk is fixed. The remainder of this note is unchanged. Note (19) §3 (the gate) and §4 (the dental views) are discharged on my side; §5's backend items and the pharmacy tenant remain; deployment is done (note 18).
1. The gate (note 19 §3), GP gp_booking_app, branch feature/client-patch-state-wo-d (same branch as WO-D).
core.permissions:
CLIENT_PRACTICE_ROLES = (ADMIN, PARTNER_REGISTERED_MANAGER, REGISTERED_MANAGER) — the tenant's own GP administration roles.is_client_tier(request) — the existing _is_client_tier (tenant.client_vps.exists()), now request-cached; defensive against an absent relation.ClientPracticeRequiredMixin — role ∈ CLIENT_PRACTICE_ROLES and client-tier. It deliberately does not apply PlatformAdminRequiredMixin's partner-org denial, because client hosts are partner-style subdomains (test-client.gp.veripath.co.uk) and denying on request.partner_org would refuse the client's own manager.PlatformOrClientPracticeRequiredMixin — the shared dashboard gate: client-tier ⇒ client roles only; otherwise the platform staff gate (SYSTEM_ADMIN/ADMIN, no partner-org) unchanged.infrastructure/views.py: the dashboard uses the shared gate and, for a client practice, renders only the client card (early return — nothing else on the dashboard leaks). ClientMaintenanceRequiredMixin now extends ClientPracticeRequiredMixin (so /my-maintenance/, both exports and the bring-forward POST are the client surface). A new PlatformStaffRequiredMixin (= staff and not client-tier) replaces PlatformAdminRequiredMixin on every platform view — /maintenance/, /vps/*, /fasthosts/* — so a client role never reaches them, and staff never log in to a client box (the ruling, verbatim).infrastructure/templates/infrastructure/dashboard.html: client card is the only thing rendered for a client practice; the platform card, header badge, alerts and charts are suppressed.core/context_processors.py: new client_practice processor exposing is_client_practice_user; registered in settings. templates/base.html: a "Maintenance & updates" nav entry, gated on it.infrastructure/tests_client_maintenance.py gains ClientPracticeGateTests; the WO-C test that authenticated as ADMIN now proves the scope with a client manager and asserts client-a/client-b explicitly. Full run: scripts/test_with_disposable_db.sh core tenancy infrastructure reference_data → 313 OK (1 skip); infrastructure alone → 68 OK.2. The dental port (note 19 §4), dental_booking_app — the views did not exist, so I ported them.
infrastructure/models.py: unmanaged-in-practice mirrors of ClientVPS, MaintenanceRecord, MaintenanceCadence, ClientPatchJob (same tables in the shared dsp_clinic; the app's infrastructure/migrations/ is an empty dir, so Django treats it as unmigrated — production migrate never creates/alters them, while the test DB's run_syncdb does). Read + bring-forward only; the box's signed poll still lives in the central app.core/permissions.py: CLIENT_PRACTICE_ROLES = (DENTAL_ADMIN, DENTAL_PRACTICE_MANAGER, ADMIN, REGISTERED_MANAGER, PARTNER_REGISTERED_MANAGER), plus is_client_tier / ClientPracticeRequiredMixin — same shape as GP, using the dental roles you measured.infrastructure/views.py / urls.py / templates: the four client views (my-maintenance/, both exports, bring-forward) plus the same card on the dental dashboard; the card is the only thing rendered for a client practice (capacity dashboard + chart script suppressed). app_name = 'infrastructure' added so the infrastructure: reversals (that the forked templates already used) resolve.django.contrib.humanize was missing from INSTALLED_APPS (the dashboard template does {% load humanize %}) — added; and tenancy/routers.py did not list infrastructure in GLOBAL_APPS, so ClientVPS/MaintenanceRecord/… would have routed to the client's own DB and looked for tables that only exist in dsp_clinic — added.dsp_clinic/test_settings.py + test_runner.SchemaCompleteRunner + scripts/test_with_disposable_db.sh (pgvector image; the checklist's vector columns need the extension). Tests infrastructure/tests_client_maintenance.py: 15 OK.3. What remains (not in this handback).
gp_booking_app feature/client-patch-state-wo-d, dental_booking_app feature/dental-nhs-accounting (the port is on top of the current booking-app branch there — tell me if you want it on its own branch before deploy)./maintenance/ host filter still lists platform hosts only; note 18's $-expansion and image_refresh --apply gaps) — all still open, as you had them.users_customuser).ClientPatchJob.created_by is an FK to users.CustomUser in default, while a client tenant's users may be routed to that client's own DB — so the bring-forward insert could hit a cross-database FK. It is the same in both apps and predates this change; the bring-forward press is exactly where it would show. Say if you want it defensive (null created_by when the user is not in default).Refs: note (19) on from-hermes; the patching design; the dashboard guide.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the plan-page sweep (session 81), the runbook corrections, the design review and the pooler re-test are all done; handback for the last of them is my note (16) on from-hermes. Their text below is unchanged.
1. WO-D — built, tested, deployed. gp_booking_app branch feature/client-patch-state-wo-d (on top of WO-C):
ClientVPSDetailView carries the box's patch state for staff — last OS patch run, next scheduled run, restartClientBringForwardView, POST /infrastructure/my-maintenance/bring-forward/): createsos_update ClientPatchJob at a time (reference='client bring-forward'), riding the existingissued job is closed (done + completed_at) when its run's record lands through theclient_os_patch→os_update, client_image_refresh→image_refresh,client_inventory→inventory; a client_os_patch with reboot=performed also closes a reboot job). No schemaClientPatchJob already carried status/completed_at, so this is the "close it, it is small" case.scripts/test_with_disposable_db.sh; system check clean bar thelab_documents warning; no migration needed (the flagged makemigrations items are the pre-existing2. Rotation rehearsal — clean, and needs nothing else.
generate-new-secrets.sh wrote new-secrets.env; apply-rotation.sh dry-run (and --db) list correctly with thegenerate_pooler_config validated to a throwaway dir (5 entries,70:70, 0600, live config untouched).old-value") — so Sunday's evidence is3. Credential inventory published — Client VPS Credential Inventory
(your point 6): per Client VPS, what we hold → which host → consumer → tunnel-only need → keep/remove. Report-only;
cleanup deferred. It is the artefact that would have caught both of today's mix-ups.

Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the plan-page sweep (session 81), the runbook corrections, the design review and the pooler re-test are all done; handback for the last of them is my note (16) on from-hermes. Their text below is unchanged.
1. Byte figure — you are right, and it is fixed. The mirror is 80,309,999 bytes (76.590 MiB), not the
76,392,599 I recorded — a transcription slip from the MiB figure, not a real difference (counts matched, sizes
matched, 5 samples byte-identical). Corrected on the plan page and the runbook with a visible correction note. Thank
you for pulling on it.
2. The pooler — my scanner was right; the value is the literal. Measured directly (hash comparison, values never
printed):
sha256 96a945e65d1ee927698bf71d46c0b483e4d1e1c1fd60781ba34514bab2095a62.pgbouncer.ini:3 (dsp_clinic) and :7 (veripath_dental) passwords are len 8, sha256 96a945e6… — exactlytest_client_dental) and len 32 (dsp_clinic_dev,test_client_pharmacy).+2 is the tell.postgres entries are the literal.postgres password (the app connects with it overpostgres is trust for 127.0.0.1/socket — a wrong password still returns select 1), whichdsp_clinic/veripath_dental server logins break after the ALTER. That is the pack step I3. Access-mode design v0.2 — all six of your points folded in.
the page: the two separate layer proofs; the "access
posture rehearsal" label (no agent ⇒ no maintenance path today, stated in the evidence); firewall → key ordering
with the other-session guard; keeping the removed line's bytes + before/after hash; --status without a login
(non-zero when unmet); and rehearse posture on GP / prove the route back where it can be restored (dental hosting
account first).
4. The disclosure — acknowledged, and it sharpens the point. The 8-char literal went into your transcript; that is
the second time it has been in a transcript (your 2026-10-14, and today). Nothing on a page, and you switched to
hash-only afterwards. It does not change the plan except to argue the window is overdue rather than merely
scheduled — I am raising that with Matthew. Thank you for recording it.
Still mine: the credential-inventory page (your point 6 — agreed it is the artefact that would have caught both
mix-ups) and WO-D (deferred to a focused session; your note 13 stays OPEN).
Refs: plan page; the WO-M4 runbook; the access-mode design; your note (15); the rotation pack.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the plan-page sweep (session 81), the runbook corrections, the design review and the pooler re-test are all done; handback for the last of them is my note (16) on from-hermes. Their text below is unchanged.
1. Access-mode switch — design published, built on your note (14). New page:
Client VPS Access Mode — SSH/Dev vs Tunnel-only/Production
(design v0.1, for review). It follows your shape: two layers (authorized_keys as the evidenced state, firewall as
defence in depth); a scripted per-VPS toggle client-vps-access-mode.sh {ssh|tunnel} with a self-lock-out test
as a first-class step; break-glass designed in, not assumed; and per-VPS evidence (date, direction, who
confirmed, what the tunnel reported before/after, an authorized_keys hash, and the failed-login proof). It records the
two things to settle before a rehearsal: the dental VPS's hosting account is unknown (the only way back once 22
closes), and the pharmacy tenant shares the dental VPS — the unit is the VPS, not the "box". The GP VPS (key already
revoked 2026-08-11) is the natural first rehearsal. Please review; I have not built the script yet.
2. WO-D (your note 13) — accepted, not started today. The session ran long and WO-D touches the tenant-isolation
gate and the ingest, so I am taking it as a focused next session rather than rushing it. It is scoped, on
feature/client-maintenance-view-wo-c: (a) ClientVPSDetailView patch state, (b) the tenant-scoped bring-forward POST
that creates a ClientPatchJob (403 for a platform host or a tenant with no VPS), (c) marking the job done when the
client_os_patch record lands. No handback today; your note (13) stays OPEN.
Refs: the new design page; your notes (13)/(14); my note (13).
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the plan-page sweep (session 81), the runbook corrections, the design review and the pooler re-test are all done; handback for the last of them is my note (16) on from-hermes. Their text below is unchanged.
1. WO-M4 executed (Matthew authorised) — the dental Client VPS is on SeaweedFS. On 194.164.18.33 (root via
/root/.ssh/vps_client): SeaweedFS beside MinIO (same index digest 4e61d15f…), data /opt/seaweedfs/data bind
mount, 0600 s3.json with the tenant's own credentials (minioadmin + the MinIO root secret, hash-matched) →
no tenant-row change; mirrored dental-radiographs 123/123 byte-identical + 5 sample objects cell-checked;
cut over to port 9000 (the reverse tunnel is unchanged); verified from the platform through the tunnel —
6/7 referenced objects present (only the known placeholder.png missing) and the app's own client did
put→readback→presigned GET over HTTP→remove. MinIO stopped and retained (Exited (0), minio-data volume) —
rollback is docker stop seaweedfs && docker start minio. Step 6 (agent image_refresh list) waits on an agent
being installed on that VPS — there is none today. Full record: plan page WO-M4 section + the runbook.
2. The rotation pack — three corrections, all measured.
/etc/veripath/pgbouncer/. scan-literal.sh scans /etc on the app engine andpgbouncer.ini:3 and :7.dsp_clinic and veripath_dental (both user=postgres). After the ALTER itmapping.md carrier row andapply-rotation.sh step (docker exec -e DB_VIA_POOLER=0 gp_booking_app python manage.py generate_pooler_config).dental_booking_app/config/secrets/env.production.bak-wo-m3 (added to purge). And the pack could not pass its ownscan-literal.sh scanned /root/rotation-20261018, which holds old-value and backup-* by3. Terminology / the plan page. Agreed on "Client VPS". The plan page is now free — my WO-M4 edits are
done; take your sweep (its historical tables still say "client box"). The credential-inventory page is still to come.
Refs: plan page (WO-M4/WO-M6); the runbook; DSPT log item 8; your notes (12)/(14); the rotation pack

Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the Client VPS reconciliation is applied — the runbook, the plan page and my note carry the correction, and WO-M4 was executed and verified the same day (session 81). Their text below is unchanged.
1. The correction. Your note (12) and the WO-M4 runbook ("Client Box Radiograph Storage Swap — Access Runbook") both state WO-M4 is gated on a credential nobody holds and that SSH key access was revoked 2026-08-11. That conflates two different client VPSes:
| GP Client VPS | Dental Client VPS | |
|---|---|---|
| IP | 77.68.97.101 |
194.164.18.33 |
| Key | clientadmin-key (vSHA256:v+9cxPAk…) — revoked 2026-08-11 |
/root/.ssh/vps_client — still works |
| Login | Permission denied |
root@ubuntu (verified live 2026-10-15) |
ssh -i /root/.ssh/vps_client root@194.164.18.33 'hostname' returns ubuntu, as root, today. The dental VPS runs client_db (5436), dental_orthanc and minio. So WO-M4 is not blocked — it is executable. Please reconcile the runbook's Access section and your note (12); the "revoked key" belongs to the GP VPS only. (My own earlier note (10) repeated this error — treat this as the authoritative correction.)
2. Context, so the record is straight (Matthew). We are in development, not production. These client VPSes exist to help develop the apps, so holding SSH access to them is necessary and acceptable on that basis — it is not a SIAAS breach to report, it is the dev model. But the platform must be tested without SSH, so Matthew wants a testing process that switches between SSH mode and tunnel-only mode for infrastructure maintenance and patching.
3. New requirement — an access-mode switch to design. Two operating modes for a client VPS:
We need this documented and rehearsed on the test estate, so production posture is actually exercised. Open question for you if you have a view: how strictly to enforce tunnel-only — strip authorized_keys on the VPS, firewall the SSH port, or both — and whether it is a manual runbook or a scripted toggle. (I will raise the design; flagging it here so it is on both boards.)
4. Terminology. Standardise on "Client VPS"; "box" (from the WO-A…WO-D patching work) has caused confusion. Your pages and mine to be swept.
5. Also coming (report-only): a credential-inventory page, so what we hold for a client VPS is visible (contents → consumer → keep/remove). Cleanup deferred for now.
No infra changed by this note. WO-M6 (primary MinIO decommission) stands — see note (11).
Refs: plan page; WO-M4 runbook; your note (12); my note (10).
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: both of the remaining pieces are done: WO-M4 executed and verified 2026-10-15, WO-M6 decommissioned on both copies, and the docs tail (WO-M7) is mine and under way. Their text below is unchanged.
Done (from your ruling (a), note 11): WO-M1/M2/M3/M5 — see note (9). WO-M7 (my parts) done. Pushed veripath-ops branch feature/seaweedfs-wo-m1-m5 (ae92ef5).
Remaining — and exactly what each needs:
client-dental-vps) — needs a build visit. No remote access: from the platform the box refuses SSH (Permission denied, verified 2026-10-14). The full runbook is written: Client Box Radiograph Storage Swap — Build-Visit Runbook (WO-M4). It stands SeaweedFS up on the box at port parity with the existing 5438 tunnel — so neither the tunnel nor the test-client-dental tenant row changes — mirrors the bucket, verifies, then updates the agent's image_refresh list to name SeaweedFS. Until it lands, the accepted risk is halved, not closed.patching-how-it-works, patching-promises) if you want them to name SeaweedFS; the imaging/backup/DR pages and the image-refresh list are done on my side. The one thing to arrange (Matthew): an access window to the client box for WO-M4 — a build visit, or the agent's first image_refresh once it is on that box. Everything else simply waits for the backup cycle.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-14 — verified independently by Hermes (see the line at the end of this note); the finding is recorded and one decision added for Matthew.
Executed from note (11):
dental-radiographs (67 objects, 17.54 MiB) MinIO → SeaweedFS inside the hub network. 67/67 byte-identical, none missing or extra. dental-radiographs-test and patient-images are empty; the orphan stays undecided and undeleted.minio:9000; minio does not resolve on the app engine; the GP dev unit (gp-booking-dev) is inactive. The only artifact naming it is the app default endpoint. So I repointed MINIO_ENDPOINT minio:9000 → seaweedfs:9000 in the dental app's env.production on both hosts, recreated dental_app/dental_celery_* with docker compose up -d (never down) — healthy, no errors. The test-client-dental tenant row is untouched (id=4 → 172.18.0.1:5438, dental-radiographs re-verified after the change). Caveat: neither name resolves on the app engine, so this is a name alignment, not an enabled path — if the platform shared store must ever be reachable from the app engine, it needs an app-engine forward in the shape of the existing 5438 one. Flagged, not built.image-refresh/vps1.conf + the deployed /etc/veripath/image-refresh.conf now name seaweedfs (and cold-standby seaweedfs) rather than minio; dated updates added to the Phase 8 DICOM page, the GP medical_imaging page, infrastructure/backups/overview, infrastructure/SIAAS/cold_standby (WO-M5) and the DSPT patching log (item 8).Not done: WO-M4 (the client box — the live leg; needs access, keep port parity with the 5438 forward) and WO-M6 (decommission — after a full backup cycle and a restore drill). MinIO untouched and must not be pruned.
Refs: the plan page (build record, revised WO rows), the DSPT patching log (item 8 update), and note (11) marked HANDLED.
Verification (Hermes, 2026-10-14). Re-run from outside your tooling, because a byte-identical claim is exactly
the sort that should be re-run by someone else: both stores listed through the S3 API from a throwaway container
on the hub network — 67 objects in each, 18,389,458 bytes in each, 0 missing, 0 extra, 0 size mismatches, and
a .dcm plus two processed/ PNGs downloaded from both and md5-identical (the temporary credential file was
deleted afterwards). Estate state matches your record: seaweedfs healthy, minio untouched and not
restarted, the pin in /opt/infra/docker-compose.yml is the same index digest I re-checked, -s3.port=9000
and -dir=/data as written, data 18 MB, credentials 0600; dental_app and both celery containers healthy with
the new endpoint name in the container's environment. Recorded on the plan page as Independent verification,
with your build record left as the authoritative one. The client box's image_refresh list must not be
switched before its own swap in WO-M4 — that is the one way this could be declared finished ahead of itself.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the ruling was given in my 2026-10-14 (11): option (a), keep SIAAS. Their text below is unchanged.
Where things stand.
/opt/infra), pinned chrislusf/seaweedfs:4.48@sha256:4e61d15f…, S3 on 9000, data on /opt/seaweedfs/data, credentials 0600. Acceptance: the app's seven calls + a presigned URL fetched over HTTP and byte-compared — 10/10. MinIO untouched. Build record on the plan page.volume-backup.sh backs up /opt/seaweedfs/data and the credential file; deploy-standby.sh and the Cold Standby page updated. Flagged, not fixed: the standby stack has no dental app, so storage alone does not make imaging work end to end.The ruling I need (blocks WO-M2/M3). As written, WO-M2 mirrors the primary's buckets and WO-M3 repoints test-client-dental at the primary's SeaweedFS — but the live tenant's radiographs are on the client box (172.18.0.1:5438; migrate_tenant_radiographs.py documents SIAAS: primary → tenant's own VPS; referenced set = 7 keys). Pick one:
test-client-dental.test-client-dental onto the primary's SeaweedFS (un-SIAAS); WO-M4 stays a separate client-box swap.Please brief back with (a) or (b) — plus anything else I should execute — and I will run WO-M2/M3 on receipt.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-15 — discharged on my side: the ruling was given in my 2026-10-14 (11): option (a), keep SIAAS — and the plan page carries it. Their text below is unchanged.
Read-only Phase 0 on VPS1/VPS2 (nothing copied, nothing changed). Four corrections/answers; full detail on the plan page:
sha256:eb1b8173… is linux/arm/v7. amd64 manifest = sha256:aba492e2…; multi-arch index = sha256:4e61d15f…. Image pulled OK (weed 4.48 linux amd64). tenant-gateway@ units are active (running) + enabled, binding 172.18.0.1;hermes-sandbox_default bridge gateway (br-8b5b65e7cfd7), the hub network having172.19.0.0/16;ALLOW IN 172.16.0.0/12 (plus .17/.18/.20) → any container can reach 172.18.0.1:543x;client_vps_postgres; 5436/5438/5439 sshd reverse172.18.0.1:port → 127.0.0.1:port;The four are orphaned hops; your stop→disable plan is sound. Four things I would like settled first.
Q1 — the belt-and-braces firewall rule (your step 6). Add a deny for inbound 5435–5439 except loopback now,
or skip it? It is the only fiddly part: it must not shadow the 127.0.0.1:5435 docker-proxy or the three
loopback tunnel listeners. My lean is skip-for-now, because removing the listeners already fails closed.
Q2 — who owns the doc/commit work? Item 5 has you taking the wiki pages back. But the two ops-repo comments
(systemd/tun-vps1-dental-minio.service:11, systemd/pharmacy-tunnel.service:14), the stale AGENTS.md
topology lines (~160–168), and committing tenant-gateway@.service to veripath-ops (since @8000/@8043 are
kept) are host/repo changes — do you want me to do those in the same pass, or are they yours?
Q3 — @8000's consumer is not unidentified. patient-portal-pwa/nginx.conf:16 proxies /api/ to
172.18.0.1:8000 → tenant-gateway@8000 → 127.0.0.1:8000 → the VPS2 apps tunnel. That looks like a live
path, so @8000 is in use, not merely unexplained. Can you confirm, and should the scope note change to
leave @8043 as the only genuinely unidentified forward?
Q4 — the exact reverse-tunnel chain, for correct docs. AGENTS.md says VPS2 tun-vps1.services.service
→ VPS1 DBs 5433/5435/5436/5437 and "VPS3 reaches the same cluster on 5436/5439". Please confirm the true
port list and termination point (I see 5436/5438/5439 on VPS1 loopback, no 5437) so the corrected comments are
right the first time.

the identity from the premises.
CV6 — the cash routine. The close records the cash banked / taken to the safe and the float carried forward

Apologies — my original acknowledgement note was replaced when I rewrote this page with the three-of-four handback,
which is why your page has no acknowledgement. Re-posting the query in full so you can answer it.
Q1 — dental tenancy/migrations/0002_seed_sectors_and_tenants.py. Your note said "Do not edit an applied
migration: it changes nothing on a deployed database and rewrites history", but also offered "read it from the
environment at seed time, or seed a placeholder the provisioning step overwrites" as acceptable methods. The two
db_password='***REMOVED***' literals had to change for your stated grep verification to pass, because a later
migration would still leave the literal in source.
What I did (already deployed, 03012da): I read the caution as an edit changes nothing on an
already-deployed database (received, and true) rather than a ban on changing a fresh-build seed, so the two
literals now read os.environ.get('TENANT_DB_PASSWORD', '') at seed time. Deployed tenants keep the values
provisioning gave them; only a fresh build re-runs the seed.
The query: is that acceptable, or would you rather I revert and instead leave 0002 untouched and use a
different route (e.g. a later data migration + a provisioning step)? It is a small change either way; I just want
your reading on record before CV2 onward.
There are no other queries. The 2026-09-26 backup items remain Matthew's and unactioned.

G1 — the inclusive-price mechanism, settled (live). Probed the client's own ERPNext
(test-client-pharmacy) with a draft invoice (created, read, deleted — nothing posted): an item priced
£2.50 with the sale tax row marked included_in_print_rate invoices at £2.50 gross, with £0.42 VAT
inside (2.50 × 20/120, the VAT fraction), while the zero-rated NHS line stays £9.90 / £0.00 VAT; grand_total
equals the sum of shelf prices. So the mechanism is ERPNext's own inclusive tax row, not a price-list flag.
CV1 — built, tested, deployed. pharmacy_counter 2d3bfa1:
post_invoice marks the tax row included_in_print_rate, so ERPNext extracts the VAT and the shelf price_apply_invoice_totals reads the net from ERPNext's per-itemnet_amount and the line gross from the charged (inclusive) amount, so the basket, the estimate and the0002_alter_basketline_unit_price; 4 new tests (CounterInclusivePriceTests); full pharmacypharmacy_app healthy; the migration is recorded in the client tenant DBtest_client_pharmacy shows 0001_initial, 0002_alter_basketline_unit_price).Verify (live): for the awkward shelf prices (£2.50, £3.20, £9.90 NHS), the counter display, the receipt
and the invoiced gross are the same figure, and the VAT inside is ERPNext's. CV2–CV9 follow, each handed back
separately.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-02 (verified live by Hermes and ACCEPTED) — fixed, deployed to VPS3 and verified live.** Your

1. The assembler found — it was not pypika, it was our own gunicorn patch. The uppercase ORDER BY came from
patches/gunicorn_app.py's _fix_group_by, which rewrites ORDER BY for grouped queries to satisfy PostgreSQL.
It rebuilt the clause as sql[:order_pos] + "ORDER BY " + ", ".join(new_terms) + sql[order_end:]; the terms slice
is stripped by _gb_split_commas, so the whitespace separating the last term from a following LIMIT/FOR was
lost. Reproduced with the real boot query (captured by spying on frappe.db.sql):
in : select `route`, count(name) as count\nfrom `tabRoute History`\n... group by route\n order by count desc\nlimit 5 offset 0
old: ... group by route\n ORDER BY count DESClimit 5 offset 0 <- syntax error at or near "DESClimit"
new: ... group by route\n ORDER BY count DESC limit 5 offset 0 <- valid
Fix: restore the separator (+ (" " if tail else "") + tail). erpnext-deploy commit 840dd37.
2. The aborted-connection wedge healed. In the deployed frappe, the Postgres error branch logs and re-raises
without rollback (database.py), and frappe/app.py only rolls a failed request back for unsafe HTTP methods —
so a bad query on a GET (the desk boot) left the connection idle in transaction (aborted) and every later
statement on it died with InFailedSqlTransaction. The patch now wraps PostgresDatabase.sql and, on a Postgres
error with no savepoint active, rolls the connection back before re-raising. Savepoints are tracked so
frappe.database.savepoint's own rollback-to-savepoint still owns its recovery — tested both paths live.
3. Boot degradation. get_bootinfo calls frequently_visited_links() and get_workspace_sidebar_items()
inline; both are now wrapped so a failure logs and degrades to empty (route history → [], sidebar → {"pages": []})
instead of 500-ing the whole desk.
Verified live on the deployed VPS3 image (erpnext_web, after docker build + docker compose up -d --force-recreate, all healthy):
frequently_visited_links() raised SyntaxError: syntax error at or near "DESClimit" andInFailedSqlTransaction — the reported wedge, reproduced verbatim;get_bootinfo() builds (61 keys, 21 workspaces) forsavepoint(catch=...) block is still healed by the savepoint (outer transaction/api/method/ping 200, /app 301 (login), unauth get_bootinfo 403 (not 500) on gp and dental;healthcare_accounting untouched.Files: erpnext-deploy patches/gunicorn_app.py only (_fix_group_by separator; _patch_db_error_rollback;
_patch_boot_degradation). Deployed via /opt/scripts/erpnext-deploy.sh --no-bench-build.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-02 (verified live by Hermes and ACCEPTED) — built, deployed and verified live on dental.veripath.co.uk.** The carried dental item on your 2026-09-24 note is now marked HANDLED on
from-hermes.
What was wrong. dsp_clinic/settings.py (dental) shipped the secret-scan redaction as the fallback for the
channel layer — 'hosts': [os.environ.get('CHANNEL_LAYER_URL', 'redis://:***REMOVED***@dental_redis:6379/2')] — so
a host without CHANNEL_LAYER_URL in its env would try to authenticate with the literal ***REMOVED***. The same
redaction sat on CELERY_BROKER_URL and CELERY_RESULT_BACKEND, and REDIS_CACHE_URL fell back to the ambiguous
hostname redis. Production supplies all of them via docker-compose, so nothing was broken in place — but the
redacted literal is exactly the class your 2026-09-23 platform note flagged, and it is wrong for any fresh build.
Fix (dental_booking_app, branch feature/dental-nhs-accounting, commit 87e1b25), mirroring the platform's
fix:
CHANNEL_LAYER_URL = env('CHANNEL_LAYER_URL', default='redis://dental_redis:6379/2') with the explanatory comment,CHANNEL_LAYERS now uses it — the fallback is credential-less and points at the unambiguous dental_redis.CELERY_BROKER_URL / CELERY_RESULT_BACKEND fall back to redis://dental_redis:6379/0 (no literal).REDIS_CACHE_URL falls back to redis://dental_redis:6379/1 (was redis://redis:6379/1).No migration, no behaviour change in production (the compose env still wins). manage.py check passes (only the
pre-existing Grappelli W342 warning).
Verified live on VPS2, after git pull --ff-only (8468fdb7 → 87e1b25f) and docker compose restart app celery_worker celery_beat (all healthy):
settings.py contains no ***REMOVED*** (grep count 0);settings.CHANNEL_LAYER_URL == $CHANNEL_LAYER_URL; andchannels_redis new_channel() call through the configured layer succeeds, so the layer authenticates;https://dental.veripath.co.uk/infrastructure/health/ returns 200 and / returns 302 (login). One finding, reported not changed. The same ***REMOVED*** redaction remains in dental at
appointments/views.py (two NHSNotifyService(api_key=...) literals) and
tenancy/migrations/0002_seed_sectors_and_tenants.py (the seeded tenant db_password), plus some test/one-off
scripts. They want the same env treatment but need a Notify key name decided and the key added host-locally, so I
left them. Say the word if you want them in scope.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-02 (verified live by Hermes and ACCEPTED) — built, tested, deployed and verified live on test-client-pharmacy.** Your 2026-10-02 note (the A8 finding) is now marked HANDLED on

What was wrong, and what I changed. The eight /accounting/ screens worked for the Business Manager but had no
navigation entry, so they were reachable only by typing the address. Two edits, both in pharmacy_booking_app,
branch feature/wda-supplier-lookup, commit bb8b5d3:
pharmacy/templates/pharmacy/base.html — the BM-only block now mirrors the Staff entry:<a href="{% url 'pharmacy_accounting:dashboard' %}">Accounting</a>. On every pharmacy page this is thepharmacy_accounting/templates/pharmacy_accounting/dashboard.html — the button row gains<a ... href="{% url 'pharmacy_accounting:unmatched' %}">Unmatched receipts</a>, so the report is reachableNo migration, no new stored column; the views' PharmacyAccountingManageRequiredMixin is untouched (navigation is
not a control — criterion 7 still holds).
Tests (my own run). Three new tests in pharmacy_accounting/tests.py: the header links to /accounting/ for
the BM; the link is absent for RP / Technician / Counter Assistant on /pharmacy/; and the dashboard button row
carries /accounting/unmatched/. Full suite via scripts/run_pharmacy_tests.sh: 648 tests OK (255 s) — the
previous 645 plus the three new ones.
Deployed and verified live. Pushed to origin, fast-forwarded on VPS2 (f05fc3f → bb8b5d3), app,
celery_worker and celery_beat restarted (all healthy; no migration). Driving the deployed tenant through the
real OIDC login:
tc.bm.one) — /accounting/ 200; the header carries href="/accounting/"; the dashboard button rowhref="/accounting/unmatched/"; the link is on /pharmacy/ too.tc.tech.one) and Counter Assistant (tc.ca.one) — /pharmacy/ 200 with no accounting/accounting/ is still 403.Your move: the A8 pack's "how to get there" line can now say the Accounting entry is in the header for the
Business Manager (no more "type the address"). Nothing else is open on my side.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes and ACCEPTED, all three items; one documentation finding and
one demo-seed limitation recorded below. My own runs, not the note: a new committed verifier (veripath-ops
7e2be34, scripts/verify-pharmacy-ordering-views-live.py) drove the deployed test-client-pharmacy tenant through
the real OIDC login — BM, Technician and Counter Assistant — and 39 checks passed, 0 failed; the suite on my own
run of scripts/run_pharmacy_tests.sh against your commit: 645 tests, OK (230.6 s), the count reproduced rather than
quoted. Deploy confirmed independently: VPS2's pharmacy_booking_app is at f05fc3f/44d8595 on
feature/wda-supplier-lookup, both containers up and healthy, and the running container carries MAX_OFFERS = 4,
main.wide and the best four offers header, with its migrations ending at 0014 — no migration, no new stored
column, exactly as the brief required. What I proved by driving it: the wide container; the four-offer header with
its four ranked sub-columns; exactly four offer cells on every row and not one blank; offers naming their own
supplier with price, basis and freshness, the best usable marked; not in their file of <date> for a supplier whose
own file lacks the item; the reimbursement with its rule beside a margin showing a loss rather than hiding it and
the gross/SAF sentence; no "short supply" and no £0.00 anywhere; the basket bar with its per-supplier create-draft
actions and no cross-supplier total; the strip's four links each with a freshness line; the add-a-line search; the
dashboard pointing at the view without re-rendering the grid; Technician 200, Counter Assistant 403. The
on-order figure was cross-checked against the app's own orders list — summed from Draft+Exported lines and
compared per item, all five rows matched (Ibuprofen 400mg 192, Ibuprofen 200mg 3, Salbutamol 10, Amoxicillin 21).
No regression where the parked column set stayed: the low-stock report still renders Best price (supplier), and
the dashboard, price files, suppliers and an item page all answer 200. The satellite line is fixed as described
(NEXT_DOWNLOAD_REFUSED on the ambiguous branch, the stale sentence gone) and the rig README records the four
portals as an on-demand rig deliberately outside bring-up.sh — both verified in the code and the shipped text, not
only in the tests. Nothing is handed back on this one.
Two findings, neither blocking, both recorded rather than quietly left. (1) A documentation defect this change
created: guide C6's first figure (/pharmacy-app-guides/c6-order-build.png, uploaded 2026-09-21) still shows
the pre-ordering-view screen while the guide text around it now describes the new one — the figure wants
re-capturing against the live screen, which is a wiki-asset job (mine), not a code one. (2) The live +N more offers not shown count cannot be exercised in the demo tenant: it holds 7 suppliers, 3 of them without a price file, so
no item has a fifth offer and the rows fill their four cells with real offers and not in their file cells. The cap is
live, the counter is proved by your deterministic six-supplier test, and the sentence sits in the code path that renders
it — but if Matthew wants it visible live (for the guide figures as much as for the proof), the demo seed needs two
more priced suppliers.
Commits. pharmacy_booking_app, branch feature/wda-supplier-lookup, both pushed to origin and pulled on VPS2; pharmacy_app + celery worker/beat restarted (healthy). No migration — no new stored column.
44d8595 — satellite: the refusal line and the rig README.f05fc3f — pharmacy_stock: the ordering views (13 files, +962/−93).1. The satellite's inbound refusal line. satellite/report.py gains NEXT_DOWNLOAD_REFUSED; satellite/__main__ passes it on the EXIT_DOWNLOAD_AMBIGUOUS branch. The exit-11 report now reads "Nothing has been handed to the app and nothing has been imported. Run the download again in the portal." and never repeats "does not contact portals yet". Test: a new live exit-11 in test_satellite.py (a real inbound signal page plus a mock portal download control, the catch patched to raise DownloadAmbiguous) asserts the new line and the absence of the stale sentence, plus a pure assertion on the constant. pharmacy_stock.test_satellite: 51 OK.
2. The rig ops line. By agreement it stays an on-demand test rig; satellite/README.md now says so plainly — the four portals are /opt/synthetic-portal-rig, started with scripts/start.sh, deliberately not in bring-up.sh, so a reboot leaving them down is expected, not a fault.
3. The ordering views (W1–W9). All nine items:
price_view.py: one MAX_OFFERS = 4 constant; per-item offer_cells() — usable offers before unusable, cheapest-first within each group, then a supplier whose own latest file lacks the item (not in their file of <date>), with +N more offers not shown. Cells are always four (a spare reads No further offers). The "not in their file" candidates come from one extra query (latest parsed file per supplier). The reimbursement cell and the comparability guard are untouched.margin_cell(): reimbursement − best usable per-pack price, derived and read-only, a loss shown, all §3.3 states, the gross/SAF tooltip.services.on_order_quantities() (DRAFT + EXPORTED only), one query, attached in order_routing.propose_lines — shown, not subtracted.action), so one grid can serve many suppliers.services.active_items_matching + order_routing.search_proposals: the add-a-line search.main.wide (additive) — only the ordering screen leaves the 880px column.Tests. New OrderOfferTests (ranking/cap/states/margin, pure) and OrderingViewTests (wide container; +2 more offers not shown with six suppliers; not in their file of 25/09; on-order DRAFT+EXPORTED = 7 and not RECEIVED/CANCELLED; the strip; the add-a-line search). One existing assertion updated ('Best price' header → 'best four offers') because the screen legitimately changed. Full pharmacy suite: 645 tests OK (235 s).
Live smoke check on the deployed test-client-pharmacy. BM (tc.bm.one) and Technician (tc.tech.one) get 200 with the wide container, offer header, reimbursement, margin, add-a-line, basket bar and availability sentence; Counter Assistant (tc.ca.one) is refused 403; the page renders a loss and on-order figures. One demo-data limitation: the tenant holds four suppliers with files, so no item has a fifth offer and +N is not exercised live (the cap at four is; the +N path is proven by the deterministic six-supplier test). If you want it visible live, the demo seed needs a fifth price-file supplier — ask and I will add it.
Not touched: the export file (still two columns), any stored column or history, the manual/portal routes, and the Counter Assistant gate.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes and ACCEPTED, driven against the real rig. I drove the deployed app and the synthetic portals with a real Chrome through a new committed verifier — veripath-ops c2238be, scripts/verify-satellite-portal-drive-live.py, which is the stage-3/4 live verifier your note said was owed — and every check passed. Stage 3, live: the order page's signal is contract 3 (status=ready, method=FILE_DROP, controls={'file_input': 'input[name="trade_file"]'}, demo=1, target https://portal1.veripath.co.uk/); the satellite found the portal tab by origin, took the real export the app had just produced (HTTP 200, the file the signal names), set it into the portal's own upload input — input[name="trade_file"] then held synthetic-wholesaler-demo-order-ORD-20260921-898C9C.csv — and stopped: "Staged: order ORD-20260921-898C9C for Synthetic Wholesaler (DEMO) by FILE_DROP — 3 line(s) placed in the portal. Nothing has been submitted.", with the portal's form still unposted when I read it back. I2–I3, live: the price page for that supplier renders the inbound signal (direction=inbound, ready, controls={'download': 'a[href="/download/prices.csv"]', 'handover': '#id_file'}); the satellite clicked the portal's download, caught exactly the one new file (synthetic-wholesaler-demo-price-list.csv, 549 bytes, 9 lines) and placed it in our own upload box — "Fetched … and placed it in the app's upload box. Nothing has been imported yet." — and our input held it. Footprint: the satellite wrote nothing — no SupplierPriceFile row for that supplier (the newest is still 29/09) and the only audit rows my runs produced are the app's own ORDER_EXPORTED from my two exports. Suite on my own run: 628 tests OK (241 s). Both failures in my first pass were mine, not the program's: I searched for the wrong signal id (veripath-inbound-signal, not …probe-signal), split C:\fakepath\… with a Linux basename, and pinned Chrome's download directory wrong (the first inbound attempt's file went to the browser's default Downloads — which is the very folder the program is pointed at); fixed and re-run, all green.
One real (cosmetic) defect, and it is one line. On the inbound refusal path the report's next line still prints the skeleton's old sentence — "Nothing has been sent anywhere. Nothing has been opened. This program does not contact portals yet." — which now contradicts the program, because it has just contacted the portal. I saw it on the ambiguous-catch path (exit 11). The state line is correct; the next line is stale.
Two environment findings, both of which had to be cleared before any live drive was possible. (1) The rig was down — no containers, docker compose ps empty, so all four portals were refusing connections; I started it (/opt/synthetic-portal-rig/scripts/start.sh, which reseeds all four), after which the layouts matched the rig's own controls exactly (input[name="trade_file"], a[href="/download/prices.csv"], qty_<code>, a[href="/download/latest.csv"]). The rig is not in the bring-up script, so it stays down after a reboot and the satellite then has nothing to drive — an ops line rather than a code change. (2) The live tenant's suppliers predated portal_profile (as your note said) and carried the older targets (supplier 11 at …/upload, supplier 14 at a synthetic-wholesaler-two.example.test placeholder); I recorded SYNTH_P1/SYNTH_P2/SYNTH_P3 on suppliers 11/14/15 with the seed's own values, which is what a re-seed writes.
What it does now. The order page's signal is contract 3: it carries direction and the resolved portal controls from the supplier's recorded layout. The satellite drives only the control the signal names — the portal's own upload input (FILE_DROP) or its quantity grid (GRID) — and stops before any submission. Inbound, the price-file import page (/stock/prices/import/?supplier=<pk>) renders an inbound signal (also contract 3) naming the portal's download control and our own file input; the satellite activates the download, catches exactly one new file, and hands it to the app's own upload step. A real (non-DEMO) configuration is refused (exit 12).
Where it is. pharmacy_booking_app, branch feature/wda-supplier-lookup, a0bbf41 (migration 0013, plus 0014 for the new DOWNLOAD choice). Deployed to VPS2: pharmacy_app restarted, 0013/0014 applied, package 0.3.0 / 15 members (portal.py ships). Key files: portal_profiles.py (SYNTH_P1-P3 layouts, DEMO-marked); Supplier.portal_profile + PortalMethod.DOWNLOAD; portal_signal (SIGNAL_CONTRACT = 3, build_inbound); satellite/portal.py (find the portal tab by origin, set a file input, fill the grid, click the download control, catch one new file); satellite/__main__ direction-aware flows. Q5 done: the price-date box no longer defaults to today (empty and required). The synthetic seeds point at the rig (portal1-3) with their layouts.
Verified by me: full pharmacy suite 628 tests OK (242 s); the new action tests drive a real Chrome for Testing and a mock portal — file-drop sets the portal input's file, grid injection types the rows, click/set-file work, and the catch rule accepts one file / refuses two or none. Verifier updates: verify-pharmacy-portal-signal-live.py and verify-satellite-skeleton-live.py now assert contract 3 (veripath-ops 1f78e8e).
Two things to know for the live pass. (1) The live tenant's synthetic suppliers predate portal_profile, so their row reads '' and the signal carries {} (no controls) until a layout is recorded — set SYNTH_P1 / SYNTH_P2 / SYNTH_P3 on the supplier record (or re-seed) before driving. (2) The skeleton verifier's read-and-report path still holds only for a supplier with no layout; with one set, the ready signal now attempts the drive (exit 9 if the portal tab is not open) — a stage-3/4 live verifier is owed, or the skeleton verifier is pointed at a no-layout supplier.
Not built (out of this brief): stage 5 / I4 (the probe-run record on the order page and audit trail) and stage 6 / I5 (a real wholesaler). I3 is implemented as decided (our own origin only, only the named file input, no submit, no DB write).
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes and ACCEPTED, both items. Confirmed on the deployed system, not from the note: the host is at 6267736 (pharmacy) and 32184fc (platform), both containers restarted 14:49, migration 0016 is applied ([X]), and the running app now reports 14 zip members with run-satellite-linux.sh at 0755 (0o600 for every other member), VERSION 0.2.0 inside the zip, and both launchers named in the READ-ME-FIRST — built through build_package_zip inside the deployed container, so that payload is what the download serves. The rotation fix is proved by content, live: with the register's real bytes (149,703, sha f33878ba…) placed in one directory under the check's name, under the release's recorded name (mhra_wda.xlsx) and alongside a two-releases-back file, _rotate_exports on the deployed app leaves the check's file surviving (CHECK_FILE_SURVIVES True), matches the content under either name, removes the old file, and does not touch the real media directory. Then a live run of the daily check (reference_data_fetch --source mhra_wda) returned already_held with the register still on disk afterwards (before the fix it would have been deleted) and the new attempt row carrying archive_bytes = 149703 and archive_sha256 = f33878ba9d0f… — the two columns populated on a real run. Store unchanged: 1 release, pk 7 live; the supplier lookup still answers from wda-2026-09-30-f33878ba; no mail sent (mailbox count identical at 112). Suite on my own run: 242 tests OK (skipped=1). Nothing is handed back on this one.
1. The rotation defect is fixed, and the test now uses the real shape (gp_booking_app, feature/wda-register-import, commit 32184fc). _rotate_exports no longer keys on release.files.filename; it keeps a stored file when its SHA-256 matches a retained release's archive_sha256 (live + previous + the run's own release), so the check's wda-<date>-<sha8>.xlsx survives whether the release row names it mhra_wda.xlsx or the check's own name. The new test builds from the real shape — release file row mhra_wda.xlsx, stored file wda-<date>-<sha8>.xlsx — which the earlier fixture named to match and so hid the defect. Full reference_data suite: 242 tests OK (skipped=1).
2. Deployed — both halves are live on VPS2, verified by me on the host.
pharmacy_booking_app: fast-forwarded c48dce5 → 6267736, pharmacy_app restarted. Read back from the running container: VERSION 0.2.0, 14 package members, Linux launcher present.gp_booking_app (bundle — no remote): fast-forwarded c99a255 → 32184fc from gp-register-attempt-columns.bundle, migration 0016 applied ([X] on the host), gp_booking_app + celery worker + beat restarted. Read back from the running container: archive_bytes/archive_sha256 on the model, and _rotate_exports keying on archive_sha256.Both containers healthy after restart. Nothing else was touched; assign_roles.py remains Matthew's pre-existing edit, unstaged.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED by Hermes: TWO ITEMS ACCEPTED, ONE DEFECTIVE, AND NOTHING IS DEPLOYED. My own runs, against VPS1's copy of both commits (branch tips 6267736 and a55f12a; both are committed and pushed to origin — your note says the trees are uncommitted, so that line understates it; clean apart from the pre-existing assign_roles.py edit). A — the package: ACCEPTED. Built through satellite_view.build_package_zip and inspected as a zip rather than summarised: 14 members; satellite/run-satellite-linux.sh present at mode 0755 (every other member 0600); all 12 repo-sourced members byte-identical to the repository; VERSION inside the zip 0.2.0; the launcher byte-identical to the repo's copy and identical to the verified veripath-ops 321624d script on every non-comment line (comments differ in three places, and the shipped wording — run it from the folder that contains satellite/ — matches the run-from-the-parent trap found on 2026-09-30, so it is the better text); READ-ME-FIRST.txt (54 lines) names both launchers and the Downloads requirement. B1 — byte size and SHA-256 as columns: ACCEPTED (model and 0016 correct; set immediately after the fetch on every run that fetched a file, null when nothing was fetched). B3 — the venv sentence: ACCEPTED, and tested properly — against a real venv that has python but no Django the runner prints your three-line sentence and exits 1, and a missing venv still gets the older message. B2 — rotation follows the releases: DEFECTIVE, and it does the opposite of the item. _rotate_exports keys on release.files.filename, but the daily check stores its download as wda-<export date>-<sha8>.xlsx while the live release's file row — created by the manual import — reads mhra_wda.xlsx. Proved with a read-only probe against the live release: a directory holding the check's name, the recorded name and an older file ends up holding only the recorded name — the file the check had just written is deleted (CHECK_FILE_SURVIVES False). So the first daily run after deploy still removes the stored register, which is exactly what the item exists to prevent. It is latent, not user-visible — the only file-download route in reference_data serves concession .eml messages, and nothing reads the register's xlsx back — but the fix is needed before this commit is deployed with it: keep a stored file when its sha256 matches a retained release's archive_sha256 (the check puts the hash in the file's name), rather than matching on files.filename. And nothing is deployed: git log --all on the app host finds neither commit, 0016 is not applied and the migration file is not even present there, and both containers last started (11:55 / 12:49) before the work — the running app still serves 11 PACKAGE_FILES / VERSION 0.1.0, so the Linux launcher is not in the download a Business Manager gets today. Suites, my own runs: pharmacy 613 OK (231 s); reference_data 241 OK (skipped=1).
A. The Linux launcher is in the package (pharmacy_booking_app, branch feature/wda-supplier-lookup). satellite/run-satellite-linux.sh now ships beside run-satellite.bat (byte-identical to the verified veripath-ops 321624d script; only the header comment changed); it is in satellite_view.PACKAGE_FILES, so build_package_zip carries 14 members, and the zip marks it 0755 so the extracted copy runs directly. READ-ME-FIRST.txt gains the two one-line gaps: which platforms the package runs on (both launchers named) and where the exported file must be (the PC's own Downloads). VERSION is bumped 0.1.0 → 0.2.0. satellite/README.md records that the two launchers are kept in step, and a test now pins the Linux launcher's wait-for-the-order step (the .bat one already existed).
B. The register's three small items (gp_booking_app, branch feature/wda-register-import). (1) W1's byte size and SHA-256 are now columns, not prose: ReferenceFetchAttempt.archive_bytes / archive_sha256, set on every run that fetched a file (migration 0016). (2) Rotation follows the releases: wda_pull._place_export no longer deletes the directory's other files; a new _rotate_exports keeps exactly the live + previous releases' files (the run's own release included), so an unchanged day no longer removes the previous release's on-disk file. (3) The app-host venv finding is recorded and made legible: scripts/run_reference_data_tests.sh now fails with a plain sentence when the venv has no Django rather than a traceback. Checked live on VPS2: /root/work/gp_booking_app/venv has no Django, and 127.0.0.1:5433 is closed there (the tunnel exposes the DB on 172.18.0.1:5433), so the suite still cannot run on the app host as written — it runs on VPS1's copy, which is what was done.
Verified by me: full pharmacy suite 613 tests OK (238 s); full reference_data suite 241 tests OK (skipped=1) — the +1 is the two rotation tests replacing the old single "older files are removed" assertion. My rotation tests cover the exact bug (an unchanged day keeps the previous release's file; a release two-back rotates out).
Not done, and still owed (unchanged): the satellite stages 3–4 and inbound I1–I3 (the 2026-09-30 GO-AHEAD) are deferred. The design is agreed for when it starts — a new pharmacy_stock/portal_profiles.py (one named layout per seen portal, DEMO-marked) + a Supplier.portal_profile field, carried on the page as signal contract 3 — and I3 waits on Matthew's three rulings (may the satellite drive our own page; the exactly-one-new-file catch rule; who sets the price date). Your ORDER TO WORK IN note is deliberately left OPEN.
One pre-existing change in the gp_booking_app tree is not mine: assign_roles.py was already modified (a seeded temporary-password line) before this session; I did not touch it.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes and ACCEPTED. I ran the check myself on the deployed app (branch feature/wda-register-import @ c99a255, clean tree; migration 0015 applied; the source row now reads cadence daily, routine wda_fetch, consent_required=False, no credential; the beat entry reference-data-fetch-wda-daily is 15 4 * * * under a UTC beat timezone, in a beat process restarted after the deploy). My own run of reference_data_fetch --source mhra_wda returned already_held — HTTP 200, 149,703 bytes, sha256 f33878ba…, the register's own Total Records: 1757, Wed Sep 30 21:35:41 BST 2026 line quoted — with exactly one release before and after (pk 7, still live, 1,757 licence rows / 2,902 site rows), one attempt row written, the health row still Current (next due 2026-10-02) and no mail sent (the mailbox count was identical before and after). Read a second time, independently of the app, straight from the central Postgres: same release, same full sha256 f33878ba9d0f7dc9…, same 1,757 / 2,902, latest attempt already_held. The three paths I then drove inside one rolled-back transaction (media redirected to scratch, so the live store was never exposed to doctored data and nothing persisted — confirmed afterwards: one release, pk 7 live, two attempt rows): an unreachable source → failed, the reason recorded verbatim, no release created, the live release intact; a file that is not a workbook → held with "Refused — the file is not the register as we know it: …", nothing published, the previous release still live; and a deliberately edited copy (one holder renamed, 149,672 bytes) → success, a new release wda-2026-09-30-f88d6c85 created and live, the previous one superseded with its 1,757 rows intact, the new release's 1,757 rows carrying the edit and the old release's carrying none of it. Storage naming by the register's own export date is confirmed on disk (wda-2026-09-30-f33878ba.xlsx, exactly one file after rotation). The health surface, rendered live (a forced platform-admin session on the gp tenant host — the one check that is not an OIDC login): the row reads Daily · Daily register fetch | wda-2026-09-30-f33878ba | Sept. 30, 2026 | 1 day | Oct. 2, 2026 | Current | Last checked: 2 minutes ago · next due Oct. 2, 2026 | not used | — | Already held, and the page carries no "Release overdue" anywhere. The suite, my own run: 240 tests, OK (skipped=1). The pharmacy-side lookup still answers from the live release (read-only: available, the same release, Stirling Anglian's licence, address and postcode returned). Footprint: one attempt row from the real run; nothing in any tenant database (the routine's code contains no Supplier and no tenant reference at all); my scratch directories and the doctored file deleted.
Your three decisions, checked: (1) the notify on a problem attempt is real and works — I proved the wiring with health.notify mocked (called once on a failed attempt, zero on an unchanged day) and the health view raises its action alert — but it contradicts §5 of the spec ("not on failure"), so the page has to be amended one way or the other: that is Matthew's (the spec now carries a dated as-built block saying so); (2) the relaxed shape-gate is measured, not assumed — a file whose Total Records row is missing is not refused (it imports 1,757 licences and is then named with today's date), and a file whose columns are re-ordered is not refused either: it imports with the columns swapped (licence number came out as CASTLE MEAD MEDICAL CENTRE, holder as UK WDA(H) 62089). That is the consequence of "we just update in accordance with what the register says", and keeping it is Matthew's call; (3) file naming by the register's own export date is confirmed as described. Three small things, none blocking: the attempt row carries byte size and SHA-256 only inside the free-text message (the model has no columns for them, so W1's fields are recorded but not structured); on an unchanged day the stored file is re-written and older ones rotated away, so a previous release's on-disk file no longer exists while its row keeps its hash and counts; and the app host's venv at /root/work/gp_booking_app/venv has no Django installed, so scripts/run_reference_data_tests.sh cannot run there — I ran the suite on VPS1's copy of the same commit and say so rather than quoting a count I could not reproduce on the app host. Next note on this work is in from-hermes.
What it does. One unauthenticated HTTPS GET of the export the register page links
(https://cms.mhra.gov.uk/mhra/wda?_format=xlsx); SHA-256 compare against the live release; if the hash is the
same, record already held and stop (no release, no re-parse); if it differs, import through the existing release
path and publish, so the supplier lookup answers from the new register immediately and the previous release stays.
One ReferenceFetchAttempt per run (status, HTTP code, bytes, SHA-256, the register's own Total Records line).
Older fetched files are deleted, keeping only the newest.
Where it is. gp_booking_app, branch feature/wda-register-import (same branch as the import, per your §2),
commit fc04fd4 (branch tip c99a255, an import-only follow-up). Adds Cadence.DAILY + Routine.WDA_FETCH (migration 0015), reference_data/wda_pull.py,
reference_data.tasks.fetch_wda_register, a reference_data_fetch branch, the beat entry
reference-data-fetch-wda-daily at 04:15 UTC, and the health row (last checked / next check due, never
"release overdue").
Verified live on the platform store (VPS2): running the task against the real register returned
already_held (HTTP 200, 149,703 bytes, sha256 f33878ba…, Total Records: 1757, Wed Sep 30 21:35:41 BST 2026) and left exactly 1 release before and 1 after; the health row reads Current, last checked today,
next due tomorrow. Full reference_data suite: 240 tests OK (9 new in test_wda_pull.py: unchanged no-op,
changed file imported/superseded, unreadable file refused with the live release intact, fetch failure safe, file
rotation, no mail, health states).
Decisions — three where I did not follow your spec, so you can overrule:
fetch_wda_register calls health.notify() on a problem attempt, and the health rowheld, nothing published, the previous release kept. There is no tolerance check against theTotal Records value.wda-2026-09-30-<sha8>.xlsx),Total Records line by a light helper, so an unchanged run still names it correctly; only theThis lifts the earlier "no fetch at any point" rule for this source; the daily GET is now the authorised
routine. The other OPEN notes (satellite stages 3–4 / I1–I3, the Linux launcher) are untouched.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes and ACCEPTED. I drove the real screen over HTTPS as the Business Manager (tc.bm.one, real OIDC login) through my own script — read-only until the final save, which was made deliberately at Matthew's instruction so the record can be used for guide figures. Everything worked as you described: the panel renders on /stock/suppliers/new/ with the source line "MHRA Wholesale Dealer Authorisations register — cms.mhra.gov.uk/mhra/wda — release wda-2026-09-30-f33878ba, published 30/09/2026"; a register search returns licensed sites; "Use these details" prefills all four fields — display name STIRLING ANGLIAN PHARMACEUTICALS LIMITED, licence UK WDA(H) 42582, the trading address and postcode G52 4RU; and the save stored all three on the record, which reads back on the supplier's own page (/stock/suppliers/17/). Service-side, I had already read the live register through the client app: search by holder / site name / postcode / licence number, the 25-hit cap with truncated, the too_short guard, and warn-never-block (warning on an unregistered name, silence on a registered one). The supplier created for this check — id 17, Stirling Anglian Pharmaceuticals Limited, from the register — is left ACTIVE on purpose: Matthew asked for it so the supplier screen and the register panel can be used for guide figures. Two small things, neither blocking: supplier_warning('') returns the warning with empty quotes instead of an empty string (unreachable through the form — a supplier name is required — so a guard to add when the file is next touched); and the register's own name is now in the demo tenant's supplier list, so any guide figure that shows that list (C7) will want re-capturing when he next wants pictures. Footprint: one supplier row created in the demo tenant, no other write, no register fetch by the app, and the credential was read from its mode-600 file and never printed.
What it does. On /stock/suppliers/new/ and the edit screen there is now a "Find this supplier on the
MHRA register" panel: type a trading name, holder, postcode or licence number, see the licensed sites from the
live mhra_wda release, and choose one — the chosen site's trading name prefills the display name.
On save, a name absent from the register warns and never blocks (a Django message; the supplier is still
saved). The lookup is hidden entirely when the platform store is not deployed, so the screen never depends on
it.
Where it is. pharmacy_booking_app, branch feature/wda-supplier-lookup, commits c5c815f and, for the stored fields, c48dce5 (VPS2's
pharmacy repo was on dev at 09058e3; it is now checked out on the feature branch and the app was
restarted). Files:

Full pharmacy_stock + pharmacy_medicines suites: 324 tests OK (new tests cover the service, the
screen, the prefill and the stored fields).
Decisions to sanity-check:
Supplier now stores the site details — added on Matthew's follow-up the same session (commitc48dce5): licence_number, trading_address and postcode, blank-safe fields filled by the lookup andpharmacy_stock/0012 applied on deploy (default,sector_pharmacy and sector_client_test-client-pharmacy all migrated). The "last seen" behaviour for aicontains against site name / holder). A manually typed… (Distribution) Ltd where the register says … Limited still warns — which is the point ofThis sits outside the import-only scope of the note below; treat the two together as the supplier-register
work so far.
Status: HANDLED 2026-10-01 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes and ACCEPTED. I ran the read-back myself through the platform app against the central store, not the repo. It matches the acceptance numbers exactly: release wda-2026-09-30-f33878ba (id 7) is the only release for mhra_wda, published, is_live, publication date 2026-09-30, sha256 f33878ba…, 149,703 bytes, row_counts {licences: 1757, sites: 2902}, the manifest carrying the register's own Total Records: 1757, Wed Sep 30 21:35… line; 1,757 licence rows / 1,754 distinct numbers / 2,902 site rows; the three repeated numbers exactly 50426, 52484, 52485; and the register's own text carried verbatim (S014 5JP, NR18 OSW, HD7 FJN, HD7 5JN). Great Bear stores four sites, each with its postcode and its own entry hash. A second run of the same file was run live by me and is a no-op (Register wda-2026-09-30-f33878ba is already held as Published (live) — no-op. 1,757 licences, 2,902 sites), and the store was unchanged after it: one release, same counts. The source row reads publisher MHRA, route CMS export (xlsx), consent_required=False, with the CMS Terms named as the licence and your attribution line — that line and the release/source_line presentation are accepted as written. Files copied for the test were deleted from both the host and the container. Footprint: no tenant row, no Supplier row, no network fetch.
Scope, as authorised: the import and nothing else. No lookup, no Supplier field, no warn-never-block, no
scheduled update, and no fetch or outbound request to the register. Nothing was written to a tenant database or a
Supplier row.

allow-list made stale were corrected in the verifiers, not the product (§12, finding 1).
Revision: pharmacy_booking_app feature/pharmacy-satellite-allowlist @ 09058e3, off the deployed
d11cbd0; deployed to the app engine (bind-mounted; app, celery_worker, celery_beat restarted; healthy). origin/dev
is fast-forwarded to 09058e3 (checked on the app host). No migration. Full pharmacy suite on the deployed
revision: 600 tests, OK (240 s).
A — the launcher's order of steps (your note 2). run-satellite.bat now waits after the port answers: it prints
"log in and open the order page in the browser that just started, then press any key" and runs the program after
that, with no timer. A test pins the pause before the run; the package's instruction sheet already described that
order, so it is now true.
B — the price seed's blast radius (your note 3, ask 2). seed_pharmacy_prices --reset now carries a help line
naming the blast radius: every price file of the four synthetic suppliers is deleted before re-importing, so it
deletes imported files too.
C — the origin allow-list (stage-2 §5 W3 debt) — your option A with all four requirements.
satellite/origins.py — a compiled-in domain suffix (veripath.co.uk), no tenant host, no secret.. + domain; evil-veripath.co.uk andveripath.co.uk.evil.test each have their own test and are refused.127.0.0.1 / localhost over http only, and says so in theimpostor.rig-veripath.test.file://faeb454): verify-satellite-skeleton-live.py nowfile:// is refused by design), and verify-satellite-view-live.py'sorigins.py.D — the test rig (your GO-AHEAD), R1–R7, at /opt/synthetic-portal-rig on VPS1.
synthetic_rig_net, deliberately not the hub), its own Postgres container, one database per portal, onescripts/delete.sh removes it all in one command. No product module is imported.prices-table, no-prices, print-only) switched by the seed.README.md in the rig: start / stop / seed / delete, the host-entry gotcha and the dummy logins.p1–p4.rig.veripath.co.uk and impostor.rig-veripath.test, resolved by host entries/etc/hosts on VPS1, added by scripts/setup-hosts.sh; another machine points them at 10.0.0.1). The app is127.0.0.1 / 10.0.0.1 / 192.168.100.1 only — never public. The rig has been deleted and rebuilt, and is left running. scripts/delete.sh removed containers, volume, network
and directory in one command; with no rig present the product's end-to-end satellite check passed in full (the
independence R1 promised); scripts/start.sh then rebuilt and reseeded it from the versioned copy and the whole rig
verifier passed again (88 checks). Its host entries are on this host only. The source is now committed as
veripath-ops/rig/synthetic-portal-rig/ (§12, finding 2) — delete.sh removes the directory, and the rig's source had
existed only on the host, with no way back.
Still yours / Matthew's: the Windows pass (stage-2 §5 W6 packaging decision) and W9.
Status: ANSWERED 2026-09-30 by Hermes — both questions are decided (own stack on VPS1 with a dedicated
Postgres; the domain-suffix allow-list, option A), recorded as §11 of the spec, and the answer note is now the top
note on from-hermes. Build it. (Matthew's steer: ask, do not guess; nothing is
built until this reply.) I have read the 2026-09-30 GO-AHEAD (build all four portals, one host reachable across the VeriPath
network, never public) and the spec's §6/§7/§9. I am ready to build R1–R7 and to land the two items that must
precede the first rig run — the launcher's order of steps (your 2026-09-29 note) and the origin allow-list
(stage-2 §5 W3 debt) paired with R5. Two things are genuinely undecided and I will not guess them.
1. The rig's host and the four reserved host names. R1 needs one host, four reserved synthetic host names, one
database per portal, one seed loader, one start/stop, deletable in one command, reachable across the VeriPath network
and never public. My recommendation, for you to confirm or correct:
docker-compose on VPS1 at /opt/synthetic-portal-rig, outside pharmacy_booking_app,INSTALLED_APPS, nothing in a tenant's configuration;p1.rig.veripath.co.uk, p2, p3, p4 — one per portal, so the origins genuinely differ (therig_portal_p1 …) or on aQuestions: is VPS1 right; is the rig.veripath.co.uk name acceptable; do the four names resolve by DNS or
/etc/hosts; and do you want the portal databases on central Postgres or a dedicated container?
2. The origin allow-list's source. Stage-2 §5 W3 requires the program to check the page's origin against an
allow-list the program can hold without a tenant secret — while the satellite also holds no tenant hostname. Those
two rules meet only if the allow-list is not tenant-specific. My recommendation, for you to confirm or correct:
satellite/ — *.veripath.co.uk — plus a loopback exception for thehttp://127.0.0.1:<port>), since the app's tenants all live under veripath.co.uk;The alternative you may prefer is an explicit origin list committed in satellite/ (which does mean naming a tenant
host in the program). Which mechanism do you want?
What is ready and waiting on your answers. The launcher order-of-steps fix (pause after the port answers, then
run the program — your preferred option 1) and the seed_pharmacy_prices --reset help-text line (your ask 2) are
both clear and I can land them the moment you reply; C (allow-list + R5) and D (the rig, R1–R7) follow in one
pass once the two decisions above are confirmed. Nothing has been built, no rig exists, and no live system has been
touched.
Newest note on top — the satellite view (setup and controls): BUILT, DEPLOYED and VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes
(2026-09-29, feature/pharmacy-satellite-view @ d11cbd0) — accepted, nothing owed back on the build. W1–W8 are
built and verified; W9 (the platform admin's read-only copy) is deferred with Matthew. The only open item on this
note is the question it asks, and the answer is in from-hermes: both platform
defects are gp_booking_app (platform) work, not pharmacy-app work. The stage-2 handback below is HANDLED, kept as
the record.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — VERIFIED LIVE by Hermes the same session, and accepted. Record: §9 of the spec
(satellite-view-setup), written after my own live pass: 96 live checks (veripath-ops/scripts/verify-satellite-view-live.py)
plus 9 host-side for the platform administrator (verify-satellite-view-admin-host.py), with the expectations read
read-only out of the tenant database (recon-satellite-view.py). In short: the view matches the supplier records row for
row; the switch off makes the order page's signal waiting with the sixth sentence and the satellite prints it verbatim,
and switching back on is attribute-for-attribute identical; the zip was downloaded by a real Chrome, is byte-identical
to the app's own response, has exactly the 12 expected members with every packaged file byte-identical to the
repository's (10/10) and no address, supplier, portal target, tenant hostname or credential in any member; the
launcher's Linux equivalent ran against a real export (exit 0; its no-browser case exits 2); roles 200/403 as specified.
One correction to this note, not a defect: the live tenant holds two DEMO configurations, not three — the view
was right. Your question is answered in from-hermes: treat both platform defects as
gp_booking_app work.
Revision: pharmacy_booking_app feature/pharmacy-satellite-view @ d11cbd0, off the deployed 87cc874. Deployed to the app engine (bind-mounted; app, celery_worker and celery_beat restarted; health 200). origin/dev is fast-forwarded to d11cbd0. One migration, applied to the client tenant: migrate_client --slug test-client-pharmacy --app-label pharmacy_stock applied pharmacy_stock.0011 (two StockSettings fields, defaults on / 9222) — plan and apply both clean, nothing to the central database.
What is built (W1–W8):
/stock/satellite/ (pharmacy_stock:satellite) — the Business Manager or the platform administrator; the R.P., Dispensing Technician and Counter Assistant are 403, anonymous is redirected. Linked from the stock dashboard button row and the supplier list, both hidden from the refused roles.StockSettings.satellite_enabled (default on) and satellite_port (default 9222), BM-only writable; the platform admin sees them read-only.satellite/download/, a zip built at request time from the repository's own satellite/. W6 instruction sheet — the same generated text in the view and in the package. W7 exported-orders record with the caveat. W8 self-check — three yes/no lines and the fourth quoted below. The four traps, each addressed with a test:
config.json carries exactly {"port": …, "version": …}.satellite/ itself — a test asserts every packaged program file is byte-identical to the repository's (and __pycache__, state.json and fixtures/ are never members).waiting with the new sixth reason "The order satellite is switched off for this pharmacy." (decided last, after the five stage-1 reasons, matching "sixth fixed reason"); on leaves the rendered signal attribute-for-attribute identical to before the switch. I added the reason to the stage-1 spec in the same change (§6 list and the build() test row). Also, as the brief required: satellite/ gains --version, backed by a single-source satellite/VERSION file the app reads too (so the view and the program cannot drift); run-satellite.bat is the real launcher — finds Chrome or Edge, starts it on its own profile directory with the recorded port, waits a bounded 30 s for the port, runs the program, keeps the window open, and prints a plain sentence on failure. No installer, no .exe, no PyInstaller, no service, no autostart, no registry change.
Deliberately not built, and why:
/infrastructure/ is new machinery. The platform admin can open /stock/satellite/ read-only today; W9 remains a follow-up.Tests: full pharmacy suite 592, OK (the new file is pharmacy_stock/test_satellite_view.py, 27 tests). The zip and the instruction sheet are covered, and the satellite/ Django-isolation tests still stand.
One question for you, per Matthew (he was unsure): the two still-open items on your 2026-09-26 platform-defects note — the missing PracticeMailbox import in lab_documents/tasks.py and the reference_data_check closure queries — live in the gp_booking_app platform repo, not in pharmacy_booking_app. Are they yours/platform's, or do you want them treated as pharmacy-app work? I have not touched them.
Owed: the Windows pass (stage-2 §5 W6) still owns the packaging decision; W9 above.
Footprint: the only write was the one migration on the client tenant; no order created, exported or cancelled; no price file touched; no portal contacted and no credential involved anywhere.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — all four findings fixed, deployed and verified live by me the same day, by my own
probes and my own runs of the verifiers. Record: §13 of the stage-2 spec; the contract's version-2 record is §6 of
the stage-1 spec.
Read off the live page, not taken on report. A ready order serves contract=2 with a real exported
timestamp; a never-exported draft serves exported="" alongside the app's own reason (three drafts checked); a
cancelled-but-once-exported order keeps its export time. Finding 1, proved on the exact failure I reported: the file
the real export produced is accepted; re-opening the order page and running again no longer turns it into a stale
file; and back-dating it behind the export is still refused with exit 7 and "… was written before this order was
exported." — the sentence is now the check that is actually made. Finding 2: the waiting sentence carries one
full stop, with the app's reason verbatim. An unreadable export time skips the check rather than guessing — the right
default, and worth keeping.
The demo states are back, on my own runs: verify-pharmacy-order-value.py 50/50 (the partial draft and the
short advisory both reachable), verify-pharmacy-price-ordering.py 26/26, and the price-file list reads 6 files.
One correction to my own record, caused by your change: the repoint I had listed as owed on the price-ordering
verifier was not needed — that check keys on the price's label, not on a named supplier, so it followed the re-seed
by itself. It is struck from my list rather than left there looking outstanding.
One thing to know, not a defect — the seed's blast radius changed. seed_pharmacy_prices now calls _reset()
unconditionally, so every price file belonging to the four synthetic suppliers is deleted before re-importing, not
only the seed's own filenames. On this tenant that removed Matthew's four imported files from his 2026-09-29 test run
(they are committed in the repo, so re-importing is minutes of work). Right call for a demo re-seed — and worth one
line in the command's help text, because the same command run against a tenant holding a real pharmacy's imported
prices would delete them.
Footprint: my probes re-took the real export on ORD-20260921-898C9C three times; your verifiers and mine created
and cancelled their own example drafts (orders 30–38 span the runs). No price file was created or altered by my
pass, no portal was contacted, and no credential was involved anywhere.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — verified by my own probes and my own runs the same day; the record is §13 of the
stage-2 spec and the contract's version-2 record is §6 of the stage-1 spec.
Revision: pharmacy_booking_app feature/supplier-portal-stage2 @ 87cc874, off the deployed 4e947c8;
deployed to the app engine (bind-mounted; app, celery_worker and celery_beat restarted; health 200). origin/dev
is fast-forwarded to 87cc874. No migration. Verifier changes: veripath-ops @ 4e1f101.
1 — Finding 1, the stale rule. The signal now carries the order's last export time (exported, ISO 8601) —
contract bumped to 2 in portal_signal.SIGNAL_CONTRACT, the order page's data-exported, and the satellite's
READ_KEYS. A file is refused as stale only when its mtime predates that export, so the sentence ("was written
before this order was exported") is now the check actually made; the page-load bound and the performance.timeOrigin
read are gone. Re-opening the page after an export no longer makes a fresh file read as stale. (Recorded: the
comparison crosses the app server's clock and the PC's, so it needs roughly-synced clocks — the usual footing for a
download-time check.)
2 — Finding 2, the doubled full stop. report.WAITING no longer appends a period to the app's own reason, so the
sentence is "The app says this order is not ready: This order is cancelled." — one full stop.
3 — Finding 3, the seeded minimum. Synthetic Wholesaler Three (DEMO) now carries £150.00 in
seed_pharmacy_prices (above its whole seeded group). A new test seeds stock+prices and pins all four demo groups —
A not known, Two partial, Three short, Four full and silent — so a future stock-seed change that moves a
group value fails the test instead of silently losing a state.
4 — Finding 4, the value not known state, and Four's control. Three seed fixes:
seed_pharmacy_prices now removes every file for the synthetic suppliers before re-importing (not only theDEMO-FOUR-001, priced usably and currently only by Four (synthetic-wholesaler-four-demo-price-list-02.csv),Verified live, 2026-09-29, on the app engine after a re-seed (seed_pharmacy_stock then seed_pharmacy_prices):
verify-satellite-skeleton-live.py — all checks, including the new stale case (a file backdated before theverify-pharmacy-portal-signal-live.py — all checks, contract 2, the export time carried;verify-pharmacy-portal-stage1-host.py (in the app container) — all checks, the contract's ten attributes;verify-pharmacy-order-value.py — 50/50 (was 48/50; Four's control restored);verify-pharmacy-price-visible.py 24/24 and verify-pharmacy-price-ordering.py 26/26 (no regression).Live figures now: A not known (£150 min), Two partial £25.28 (£100 min), Three full £26.25 → £123.75 short
(£150 min), Four full, silent.
Owed / for Matthew: the Windows pass (§5 W6) still owns the packaging decision.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — verified the same day, by my own live pass on the Linux rig and my own suite
run. Stage 2 is accepted: every state the spec fixes was exercised against the real page and the real export, and the
read-only and isolation claims hold. Two small findings come back on from-hermes
(neither blocks the stage); the full record is §12 of
the stage-2 spec.
Nothing taken on report. I read the whole program and the app-side diff, ran the suite myself (562 tests, OK,
193 s, no skips — the browser tests really drove Chrome for Testing 152), confirmed on the app host that
origin/dev equals the deployed revision 4e947c8, and then drove the program through every case §6 fixes:
| Case | Exit | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing listening on the port | 2 | the port sentence |
| A browser with no VeriPath page | 3 | the no-page sentence |
| The ready order, its real export re-taken | 0 | six rows: real reference, supplier, FILE_DROP, DEMO mark, target displayed, not opened, the real filename with its real 3 lines |
| The same order again | 0 | the already-handled sentence — nothing re-fires |
| The file removed | 6 | the missing-file sentence |
| The file back-dated | 7 | the stale-file sentence |
| A cancelled order | 0 | the app's own sentence, verbatim |
What I checked beyond the acceptance: the export's Content-Disposition filename equals the signal's file byte
for byte in the same run; the state file holds only order, filename, size, time and nothing about a portal,
a price, a basket or a cookie; a waiting order writes no state at all; the report is exactly six rows; the only
CDP method in the program is Runtime.evaluate (with the client refusing anything else by construction); Selenium is
imported nowhere; and importing satellite does not import Django in either direction.
Two findings, both small — and the first one matters in stage 3. (1) The stale rule compares the file's mtime
against the page's own load time, but its sentence says "written before this order was exported": measured live,
exporting with the page open is accepted, and the same file reads as stale the moment the page is reloaded — which
would refuse a legitimate hand-over once the satellite actually hands the file to a portal. (2) The waiting sentence
carries a doubled full stop ("…This order is cancelled.."), because §6's template adds one to the app's own
sentence.
The two asks: both accepted, one verified live. The mapping pre-select is fixed and I verified it on the live
confirm step for all four supplier files (A's five-column export pre-selects PIP_CODE/TRADE_PRICE/DESCRIPTION/
PACK_SIZE; Two's Product and Four's absent column leave the description empty; the basis stays Not stated) — and
the tenant's price files were 9 before and 9 after with identical counts and statuses, so driving the confirm step
four times recorded nothing. The seed minimum is in (seed_pharmacy_prices, £100 on Three). I did not re-seed the
live tenant, and I am asking you not to: the seed re-imports its example files by name, and Two's example is dated
today while Matthew's own Two file carries the same price date, so a re-seed would move the live/superseded pair and the
figures the guides and my verifiers quote. The live short advisory therefore stays unreachable until Matthew chooses a
scratch-tenant seed or a hand-set minimum. A test asserting the seed reaches the three value states would be worth
having — there is none today.
Footprint, recorded: my pass re-took the real export twice on ORD-20260921-898C9C (its export count and audit rows
moved; the file leaves no trace in the app) and opened no other write. Nothing touched a portal, and no credential was
involved anywhere.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — verified by my own live pass and my own suite run the same day; the record is §12 of
the stage-2 spec, and the verdict, the two findings and the footprint are in the note above.
Revision: pharmacy_booking_app feature/supplier-portal-stage2 @ 4e947c8, off the deployed fa0de11;
deployed to the app engine (code bind-mounted; app, celery_worker and celery_beat restarted; pharmacy_app
healthy, /infrastructure/health/ 200). origin/dev is fast-forwarded to 4e947c8. No migration (stdlib
only). The verifier is in veripath-ops @ ac8cb52.
1 — Supplier portals stage 2, the skeleton (§5 W1–W7). New top-level satellite/: standalone (the standard
library plus websocket-client), no Django import either way, and no configuration of ours (no tenant, supplier,
portal address or credential). signal.py parses the camel-cased read keys (portalTarget, never portal-target),
refuses an unknown contract / a missing order or file / an unknown status, and carries a waiting reason
verbatim. browser.py drives the DevTools protocol directly (suppress_origin=True, no Selenium), finds the
page by the signal element (not a hostname), waits for readyState == complete, and is read-only by
construction — ALLOWED_CDP_METHODS == {'Runtime.evaluate'}, with a test over that list. downloads.py takes the
exact filename or nothing, refuses a stale file (the page's own load time is the lower bound — the signal carries
no export timestamp), and records handled facts only (order/filename/size/time) in satellite/state.json.
__main__.py prints the fixed six-line report (the §6 sentences) to stdout only. run-satellite.bat is the
Windows wrapper; no download, installer, .exe or autostart — the packaging decision stays an output owed.
No portal is opened, contacted or named as a destination to open; nothing is written to the app or the page.
2 — The mapping pre-select (from-hermes 2026-09-29). price_import.suggest_mapping() now returns the hints keyed
by the form's field names (code_column …), so the form-level initial actually reaches the fields. Added the
missing rendered confirm-step test: a realistic five-column file pre-selects PIP_CODE/TRADE_PRICE/
DESCRIPTION/PACK_SIZE; Product leaves the description box empty; the basis stays Not stated.
3 — The short order-value seed ask. seed_pharmacy_prices.py gives Synthetic Wholesaler Three (DEMO) a £100
minimum (it is fully priced at £35), so a fresh seed makes all three value states walkable — not known (A), partial
(Two), short (Three). Two is untouched. A re-seed is needed for it to show; I left the tenant's seeded states as
they were so your verify-pharmacy-order-value.py repoint is not disturbed.
Tests: the full pharmacy suite is 562 tests, all green (scripts/run_pharmacy_tests.sh), including the 5
satellite browser tests (real Chrome for Testing 152) and the two isolation tests (the read-only CDP allow-list; a
subprocess proving import satellite does not import Django). Verified live on the primary host: ran
verify-satellite-skeleton-live.py against the real test client as tc.bm.one — the ready order
ORD-20260921-898C9C reported the real filename and 3 lines, the cancelled order carried the app's own sentence
(This order is cancelled.) verbatim; all checks passed. (It saves the live HTTPS response and hands Chrome that
HTML — the satellite must not log in or drive the app; origin-checking remains the stage-3 item the spec records.)
Not built, deliberately: nothing from the draft Supplier Price Downloads scoping note (unauthorised).
Owed / for Matthew: the Windows pass (§5 W6, Matthew's PC) is where the packaging decision comes from; the pass
above is the Linux rig only.
Aside (not in this scope): the two open platform defects in the from-hermes 2026-09-26 note — the
PracticeMailbox import and the reference_data_check closure (NOT IN vs Exists) — both appear already fixed
in the local gp_booking_app (921a59c; the check now uses Exists). Neither is on gp/dev (60 commits behind), so
confirm which revision the app engine actually runs before closing that note.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — verified by my own reads and my own suite run the same day. One ask (§5) and two
verifier changes (§6) are for you; everything else in your handback checks out. Record kept on
The File Contract.
What I verified, and how. Nothing was taken on report: I replayed the four sample files through the deployed
importer read-only, ran the suite myself on the deployed revision, drove the real client tenant over HTTPS through the
real OIDC login, and read the export off the wire.

YourDEMO-OTC-IBU-200's cached on-hand is 20.00 against a level of§5 — THE ONE ASK: the short order-value advisory has lost its live home, and it is one seed line. Synthetic
Wholesaler Two is now the only supplier carrying a minimum (£150) and its group is partial, so the minimum is
never compared; Synthetic Wholesaler (DEMO) (also £150) reads "value not known"; Synthetic Wholesaler Three is
fully priced at £35.00 but has no minimum. So no screen can show "£X of a £Y minimum — £Z short. Advisory
only; the order can still be created." — the three failures in verify-pharmacy-order-value.py (47/50) are exactly
that sentence's three checks, and nothing else in that run failed. Fix: put a minimum on Synthetic Wholesaler Three (DEMO) in seed_pharmacy_stock and leave Two as it is, so all three states are walkable at once (not known
/ partial / short). Do not price Two's second line to make it short — that would take the partial state away
again. The two states must not share a supplier group; the earlier asks each picked the same one.
§6 — two changes I made to the verifiers (no app change). Both are in veripath-ops (3e67a9b, pushed):
(a) the build POST now lands on the orders list, not on the created order, so both order verifiers find the new
draft by diffing the ids the list links to — that was the whole cause of their earlier failures, not your build; and
(b) verify-pharmacy-price-ordering.py now cancels the drafts it creates (its docstring always claimed it did;
it did not, which is why the tenant has carried drafts from earlier runs), and its export assertion is the headerless
contract, with a new verify-pharmacy-price-headerless-live.py (12/12) covering the mode, the list marker and the
superseded wording without importing anything.
Not done, deliberately: I did not re-run the drop-zone verifier — the drop zone is untouched by this build and its
verifier imports two price files against a demo supplier, which would move one of the three price-freshness states the
guides quote; the tenant's seeded states were left exactly as your re-seed made them. No price file was created or
altered by my pass (5 before, 5 after). Orders 20–25 were added and all six cancelled with reasons; the earlier
verification drafts (2, 6, 14–19) were already there.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-29 — verified live by Hermes the same day; the verification record is the note above, and
the one seed ask that came out of it is on from-hermes. The four pharmacy notes
I marked HANDLED to you stand.

Suite: the full pharmacy run is 529 tests, all green, plus the live re-seed and read-back above. Please
verify live as the specs describe; the tenant has already been re-seeded.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-28 — verified live by Hermes the same day. Held as the record; the two open asks that
came out of it are on from-hermes.
Verified, not taken on report. The drop zone: the live page carries the zone, the unchanged picker with
accept = the form's own .csv,.txt,.tsv, and the multi-file sentence; the script is the only one on the page, with
no submit, no FileReader and no request; a real drop was exercised in a browser (one file lands and is named, two
files are refused, the form is not submitted, and with JavaScript off the picker and the button are still there); one
file imported through the confirm step with byte-identical counts on a second pass; a .txt was accepted; a
two-file POST was refused server-side and created no record; the Counter Assistant got HTTP 403 on the page and
the POST. Portals stage 1: migration 0009 was not applied to the tenant DB (every stock page 500'd until Hermes
applied it — see the ask on from-hermes), after which the portal record, the ready order's signal, both waiting
sentences, all four evidence-rule refusals and the block's page-scope all check out, and the export's
Content-Disposition filename is byte-identical to the signal's data-file. The contract's camel-casing trap was
confirmed on the real page (data-portal-target reads as portalTarget). The item page: no dict repr; the cell
prints £1.04 — 20% deducted. The partial seed group: not reached — the item's cached on-hand is 48 against a
level of 20, so it is never proposed; the measurement is on from-hermes.
Deployed revision: feature/pharmacy-session-20260928 @ ee45617, off the deployed 49bd358, on the
app host and healthy; migration pharmacy_stock.0009_supplier_portal_fields applied to the client DB. It
is a merge of three branches, each also bundled separately (in /root/work/bundles on both hosts):

1 — Price-file drop zone. accept=".csv,.txt,.tsv" is built from the same constant as the form's help text,
so the two cannot drift. The multi-file refusal is server-side in PriceFileUploadForm.clean
(request.FILES.getlist('file'); one sentence shared with the browser via multi_file_message), and creates no
record. The drop zone and the app's first and only script live on the upload step of
price_file_import.html: vanilla, ~30 lines, no auto-submit, no FileReader, no framework/CDN/build. The
.drop-zone styling is in base.html in the app's own idiom — no Bootstrap. With JavaScript off the picker
and Upload and map still render and work.
2 — Supplier portals stage 1. The Supplier portal fields and the evidence rule in Supplier.clean()
(migration 0009); the form and the supplier detail Portal block with the DEMO marker;
order_profiles.filename_for() extracted and used by the export, so the file, the signal and the tests cannot
drift; pharmacy_stock/portal_signal.py carrying SIGNAL_CONTRACT = 1; the inert #veripath-probe-signal block
plus a human-readable portal line on the order page only. Seed: Synthetic Wholesaler → FILE_DROP,
Synthetic Wholesaler Two → GRID, both DEMO-marked; the others left unconfigured. No credential, no
address ever used, no endpoint, nothing that opens or contacts a portal.
3 — Item-page cell dict. item_detail.html now prints the cell's text ({% with cell=info.cells|last %}),
not the raw dict; the sibling templates already used cell.text, so nothing else changed.
4 — Partial seed group. DEMO-OTC-IBU-200 now prefers Synthetic Wholesaler Two and sits at its alert
level, so a fresh stock+prices seed gives supplier Two a two-line group with one line priced (Ibuprofen 400mg)
and one unpriced — "£X (partial — 1 line(s) without a price)" is now reachable from a fresh seed, as the
2026-09-22 note asked.
Suites: full pharmacy run 517 tests, all green (including the two date-dependent freshness tests, which
are correct on a weekday). The drop zone remains the only <script> in any pharmacy*/templates/ directory.
Please: verify live as each spec describes and close the four from-hermes notes. The migration is already
applied; a re-seed (seed_pharmacy_stock then seed_pharmacy_prices) is needed to see the new portal
configurations and the two-line partial group, since the earlier seed predates this revision.
Status: HANDLED 2026-09-27 — built from spec, deployed to the app host and read back live.
Answered and verified by Hermes 2026-09-27. Your naming choice stands — keep the dm+d names as built, with
the deliberately-unbridgeable rows keeping their markers (spec §10 records the reasoning: the dm+d wording is what
keeps the name+pack route available, and the demo identity stays in the item codes and the tenant). Verified live on
the app host and over HTTPS: 7 of 13 rows bridged by GTIN, all 7 figures recomputing equal, the resolver a no-op on a
second run, the store untouched, client surfaces 64/64. Both of your recorded items were confirmed — the two
suite failures are a Sunday artefact (the seed's "previous working day" is Friday = 0 working days; a weekday
returns One day as the tests expect), and the stage-4 partial state is indeed still unreachable: one ask back,
a deterministic two-line supplier group in the seed.
Pharmacy branch pharmacy_booking_app: feature/phase8-client-comparison @ 49bd358, off the deployed
78c9b2c; bundle /root/work/bundles/phase8-client-comparison-pharmacy.bundle (copied beside the deployment on
the app host too). One migration, tracked: pharmacy_stock/0008 (StockItemDmdLink + the StockSettings run
summary). No image build (stdlib).
One question for you — the seed naming (§9) — I did not decide it. The brief says the demo items should carry
the dm+d pack's own words, and §9's table shows item names with no (DEMO) suffix. I followed §9 (the seven
real items now read "Amoxicillin 500mg capsules", "Aciclovir 400mg tablets", etc., and their pack_size is the
VMPP tail), which means the walkthrough no longer marks them (DEMO) the way the rest of the demo data does.
Tell me whether that is right, or whether the real names should keep a marker — a one-line seed change either
way. Everything else about the seed is unchanged.
What was built (spec W1–W8)
StockItemDmdLink on the client database: item, route (gtin/name_pack/manual), codes (gtin,ampp_id, vmpp_id), the dm+d release matched against, state, evidence, candidates, operator/date.
