After reading this guide you will understand how private payments are handled in VeriPath Dental and where to see the money position for your practice. You will learn what a ledger transaction is, what its payment statuses mean, how deposits work, and how to read the Financial Dashboard and a practice's detailed financial screen.
Who does this? Practice managers and dental admins use the Financial area to monitor revenue and payments. Clinicians and receptionists do not see the Financial menu.

Every private payment is recorded as a transaction against the appointment it relates to. Each transaction holds:
| Field | What it records |
|---|---|
| Total amount | The full amount owed for the treatment |
| Deposit paid | Any deposit collected at booking time |
| Payment status | Where the payment is in its lifecycle |
| Stripe references | The payment processor's identifiers for the charge |
A transaction moves through these payment statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | The payment has been raised but not yet collected |
| Partial | Some of the amount has been paid (e.g. a deposit) |
| Paid | The full amount has been collected |
| Refunded | The payment has been returned to the patient |
Each practice has a payment configuration — its card-payment (Stripe) settings, the deposit percentage required at booking, and the default currency. Private card payments are collected through this configuration, and the transaction records the processor references alongside the amount.
The Financial Dashboard opens for the current month. It shows practice-wide totals and a per-practice breakdown.

Four cards summarise the month across all practices:
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Total Revenue | The total value of transactions across all practices |
| NHS Appointments | Count of NHS-funded appointments this month |
| Private Appointments | Count of private appointments this month |
| Did Not Attend | Count of appointments the patient did not attend |
The Total Revenue figure comes from the sum of all ledger transactions, so it reflects what has actually been billed.
The Per-Practice Breakdown table shows each practice's NHS and private appointment counts, its DNA count, and its revenue:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Practice | The practice name |
| NHS / Private | Appointment counts by funding stream |
| DNA | Did-not-attend appointments |
| Revenue | Total transaction value for the practice |
| Details | Opens the practice's detailed financial screen |
The practice financial screen opens, focused on that practice's month.

It shows:
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Revenue | Total transaction value for the practice |
| Deposits Collected | Total deposits collected at booking |
| NHS / Private Split | Appointment counts by funding stream |
| DNA Rate | Did-not-attend count and percentage |
